Unfortunately while he's one of the few that has stated it, there's a large number of people on here who will just download the game no matter what.

That's why I really hope that one of these days we get a game that requires a legal copy to be able to modify, so that none of the stuff on this site goes to those who don't give back to the developers.

My thoughts on this question are mixed really.

Firstly, EVERYTHING in the game is built from scratch. Everything. No single line of code, animation, sound fx: NOTHING is legacy.

However, some of the people involved are the same, so some ideas/mechanics are the same: we felt like we were moving in the right direction in IC10, so some aspects are a continuation of those. There's also been another round of feedback and so some ideas were revisited according to that. We're also in a very similar position with regards to licenses, so the feature-set is similar (which is probably what makes it sound so much like previous games).
The massive difference, for me, is in the mechanics of how the game plays: it feels very different from any other previous cricket game to me.

Well it can't be a patched of 09 because if it was surely they would have just patched it in 2011 or 2012, tbf it is more likely to be an entire new game because it surely don't take 4/5 years to patch a game to add new features in.

IMO there should be a 3rd option in the poll...

"It will have lot of new things, especially related to fielding and bowling, but will have some linkage to IC2010"

I think the game will be somewhere in the middle of the two options listed in the poll. I expect fielding and bowling to be revamped but batting to be pretty similar to AC09/IC2010 series with major bugs removed (cut/pull off Yorkers, batsman standing still after playing a shot etc.)

Though the game is a reboot of the earlier series and is built from scratch, I do expect to have some similarity with the previous titles because of simple reason that number of people involved in previous series are involved in development of this game. And we all know even if you can't reuse the same code-base, you will be able to come up with a new code-base which was similar to the one you earlier worked on.

And then people complain why EA isn't into cricket games With folks like these why would EA do so? We should be thanking our stars that at least 505 Games and Big Ant are focusing on cricket games.

I hope to god someone uploads a copy of Ashes game full of viruses/Trojans/malwares that destroys the systems on which the copy is installed on. I can very well see the day when the game publishers come up with 2 sets of copies - one legal one and another with a virus which they upload on the net themselves. Once news about these "poisoned copies" start making rounds, people will be a bit more hesitant in downloading illegal stuff and forced to buy the legal ones.
