Pro Evolution Soccer 2009

Whats the big hook about liscences? On PC you just download the kits and leagues anyway, not a huge problem.

It's pretty much just all superficial really. I'm not bothered about the proper kits and stuff. Of course it is nice to have everything proper, but I concentrate more on the playing of football tbh.

It's not so much the kits, it's more the amount of competitions and leagues: Fifa goes as low as League Two in England, whereas in PES, all you have is the Premiership, with a half-baked lower division full of foreign teams, meaning that when the season ends, you have three foreign teams in the Premiership.

Also, Fifa inhabits a real football world, with real money, etc. Whereas PES is a made up Master League mode and points instead of money. And the fact that you only have six (five now?) leagues to choose from, no proper lower divisions, no proper domestic tournaments and a cut down European tournament means that I get bored eventually, no matter how good the on pitch action is. It's a different story with international games though.

Finally, EA seem determined to treat PC gamers as second class citizens, whereas Konami don't. Everyone gets the same version, therefore I hope EA lose the Fifa licence, then they'll have to call 'Fifa' Super Striker Soccer or something like that, as someone said on the EA forum. Apart from PES 2008 (which wasn't as bad as people are making out, in my opinion), PES has generally produced more exciting and more unpredictable football than Fifa, so that's where I hope the licence goes.

As for the money issue, well, Sony have a lot more money than Codemasters, but that didn't stop Codies buying the F1 licence, did it? I don't think it's right that one company should have a permanent monopoly on such a huge licence as the Fifa one.

Fifa on PC has improved enough this year to warrant me buying it. After playing the demo for a few days now, I can see that the new collisions system adds so much to the game, the physicality in the game is excellent now. It's still far from perfect (the main problem is the lack of variety with headers), but it's a big improvement on Fifa 08.

Matt, that statement indeed is debatable to no end, but I would admit it, if FIFA's the ONLY game you play then get a console no doubt. On the other hand, I really do play a lot of other games which makes me stick to PC. I just don't play FIFA. :)

Though that's the end of console vs pc I think, that's the best way to carry on this thread boys! :)

Probably because Valdez grasses so many shots.

A-thank you.

Holy crap! Look at those gloves! They're huge!

They look like gardening/Mario gloves :p.

Yeah, almost as big as the football in Fifa. :p

Pes DEMO

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced the availability of a playable demo of its forthcoming PES 2009 title for PLAYSTATIONR3, Xbox 360 and PC on 2nd October.

Due for release on 17th October, PES 2009 marks the triumphant return of what is regarded as the most realistic football title for any format. Users will be treated to an expansive playable demo of the new title, with the bespoke version offering a full five-minute Exhibition multiplayer match.

Players will be able to select fully licensed Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Barcelona club teams, or the licensed Italian or French national sides. The demo will allow users an early taste of the all-new elements set to further bolster PES 2009's reputation as the definitive football game. All new visuals with completely remodeled players and animations, and new physics routines to ensure the ball behaves more realistically have been included, while the AI of the CPU sides has been enhanced to provide an ever evolving challenge.

The PES 2009 demo will also include promotional videos detailing the new game's 'Become a Legend' and online 'Legends' modes, which see the player controlling just one player within a team and attempting to forge a career in football. Starting as a promising 17-year-old, players must force their way into the first team and produce a series of blistering performances which will ultimately result to a move to one of Europe's biggest sides. Or, on the flipside, poor performances can see a player struggling in the lower leagues and eventually being released.

Finally been announced, although a week later than I initially anticipated.

Single and multi player demo, cool idea. Looking forward to it.

Hold an a sec. Lower leagues? Tell us more!!

Probably the lower leagues of the Master League I'd imagine. It definitely won't be the English lower divisions, that'd have been announced by now.

£32.99 from Shopto <3

if PES get some more licensing, it would make it much more appealing than it is right now...
