The "fans" who will buy PES no matter how terrible it is are the ones ruining it for the rest of us - if Konami had a year of seriously poor sales, they would know people won't just settle for the lack of development and would have to really put some time and effort in to gain back those customers. But with huge groups of people going and spending ?35+ on a game with really old gameplay and very few new features, why would they bother putting effort into improving it?

These 'fans' are the same for both titles. FIFA 06 and 07 for example were awful yet fans still bought the game in their millions and look at how well FIFA has developed now.

And who exactly are you trying to convince about PES09? Myself, Gas and Pingusten have clearly stated that we're going to play PES and it's a 99% certainty that we're probably going to buy the game so why are you trying to convince us otherwise? You don't see us going in to the FIFA thread and slagging it off to try and stop you from buying it.

But anyway i'm getting both demos on Thursday and barring a catastrophic demo i'll be buying both again. But at the end of the day, I know which game offers the truest game of football and that's PES. If it changes this year then fair play to FIFA, but I can only find that out when I play them.

You go on about mentioning all of PES's flaws which is fine for a discussion, but you pretty much mention it in every post. WE KNOW YOU HATED PES2008 AND ARE INCREDIBLY PESSIMISTIC ABOUT PES09! We don't need to keep hearing it.

Next time you see the word PES08 mentioned just bite your lip, hold your aggression in and go play Fifa. Maybe that will help with your hatred towards Pes08.

For the first year since....well, ages. Im probaly not going to get PES (even though i do think it still juuuuust has better gameplay still)

I was so dissapointed last year, it felt like hardly anything had changed and just got bland after a while (plus trying to play the game on xbox live was basically impossible). I just dont believe its worth another 100 bucks...

From my experience, games don't just become better than in videos just because the controller is in your hands.

Something about those screenshots looks cartooney, I think it's the overuse of bright colours. Also, why does every player have their shirt tucked in? Not a big a thing but still a bit annoying, especially considering the same players in real life never wear them tucked in.

Also, those pics with the interviews/awards will just be for a little picture in one of the modes - like the ones we were shown for PES 08 which just ended up being in the game as still images.

To summarise;

Screenshots = Unimpressive
Trailer = Unimpressive
Gameplay videos = Very unimpressive
Feature/improvements list = Unimpressive
Konami's PR/Marketing = Very unimpressive
PES' progress in the last 3-5 years = Very unimpressive
PES 2008 = A disgrace of a game

That all leads to an unimpressive PES 09, I could contrast that to the same points regarding FIFA, but it's hardly worth it as it's about as even as the Khan v Prescott fight .

Maybe next year... (said this countless times about FIFA in the past now it's about PES...).

Agreed, but I'd change PES's progress in last 3-5 yrs to 'pathetic' or 'non-existent' or 'progress? What progress?'

100$, that's around £50, isn't it? Why are games so expensive in Aussie-land?
