Review Retail Version Impressions Thread

i got the game today and just played the batting tutorial and a t/20 with england vs aus i did so many run outs due to my bad i gave up. but it is a brilliant game and love it :)

2.3 overs gone in the T20i and Watson's finally off the mark. Racing to 4 from 11 deliveries. Maybe they're just pacing the innings cleverly and will surprise me as the innings goes on......

Ok England all out for 177 in the first test at Cardiff got 6 wickets with Hauritz
1 with Katich and 1 each with Lee and Symonds.

Summary so far:
England 177 all out from 27.1 overs
K Pietersen 56(34)
Cook 24(36)
Bopara 17(33)
Collingwood 16(5)

Good news only 1 run out

nimish_sach added 2 Minutes and 30 Seconds later...

Ok not a good start 3/1 in the first over
Hughes gone LBW Flintoff dead as a duck

I am batting sensibly by choice, its a risk v reward system. If you play more aggressive eventually one of the variations will get you out.

Got through the first session unscathed. Strauss reached 50 with a square cut for 6. Ponting brought north on at the 28th over which was interesting as i have never faced a spinner in this game. Looking forward to seeing if the AI use defensive fields on strauss as he is fully set now. Enjoying it so far, just annoying that i am not able to select back foot shots or charge shots, only front foot shots. Have to leave it on auto for back foot etc and hope the cpu picks the right one.

Another nice touch was Ponting shaking Strauss hand as we walked off for lunch, although it probably would have been more apt when he reached his century.

I have also been sweeping fast bowlers, not intentionally it just does it, looks silly. :laugh

Ok Katich gone too. England on fire I need to start rebuilding now 11/2 AUS at the end of 2 overs. Katich got out caught at short leg. So at lunch Australia 11/2 trail by 166 runs
Flintoff 1/5
Anderson 1/6

5.1 overs gone and Dimi Mascheranas picks up the wicket of Watson. Was abit short and wide, but Watson's timing was out and hit cut it in the air straight to Pietersen at Point. Australia now 35/1 off 5.1 overs, Warner going like a mad man at the other end. Watson dismissed for 10 off 18 balls.

Anyone have an answer to the created player question on the last page?

anyone played online, i have got the ps3 version but have not managed to play a full game as people leave. Am not sure if it counts as a dnf or anything. add me if anyone wants to play online. my psn id is zub2008 and send me a message saying your from planet cricket.

It will be good to test out online

Question. Just made Trott and Onions, not exactly accurate portrails of the guys, but they'll do. Any idea how I get them in my team?

You can't get them in the official Ashes mode it seems. What's the point in having an edit feature if you can't even play them in the Ashes!

Sureshot gave it 68% on PS3. You guys are making it sound a whole lot better than that! 68% is a mediocre score - if I see that in PC Gamer, I don't bother with the game. Also, my own experiences from the demo make me think that 68% is a touch harsh.

guys sorry for being off topic but I need to ask about the software to use to catch in-game screens :sarcasm

Can anyone suggest me the one you are using urself ?

68% is a very fair assessment. Most of the guys on here I'd guess will feel the same in a week once the novelty's worn off. It's playable, far more so than BLIC, but it's still no masterpiece.

So if you want to play a long innings, you sort of have to bat sensibly. That's good.

About the frontfoot/backfoot shot selection, on the Xbox 360 pad, it's LB for front foot shot and LT for back foot shot, I hope that helps.
