Agger announced as Rutland skipper

Contrary to preliminary reports, Rutland County Cricket Club have confirmed just one club captain for their inaugural season in county cricket. Andy Hurry, amidst two confused tabloid journalists who thought that Rutland Weekend Television was coming back to the airwaves and found themselves attending something quite different, announced that "despite earlier statements, we are delighted to confirm a leading player as the club skipper this year."

Nick Agger, the one and only Rutland skipper.

The club captain, Nick Agger, is already experienced around the world, but this will be his first county gig. He qualifies as an English local, of course, via his proxy server, which should be good enough for anyone. Let us hear no more of that work permit nonsense. The other two captaincy candidates, VC Andrews and Varun Rustagi both opted to focus on their personal performance for this season, indicating that they may in fact have real lives to contend with.

@Aggz, your duties will commence with picking the eleven for the first championship game against Middlesex at Lord's. Amla is unavailable (overseas) while van Wyk is ineligible (T20). Everyone else is fit to play.

After winning the toss and batting first against a fiendishly strong Middlesex bowling attack, Nick Agger could be forgiven for being more than slightly peeved about the response of his top-order, who caved in. Only Loco Salihamizic's 67 got the new side past 200 and avoided embarrassment.

Salihamizic hit a face-saving 67 for Rutland.

After Rogers and Robson got Middlesex quickly past the 100 mark for the loss of only one wicket, things looked bleak. Samuel Emmanuel and Thomas Sully, though, chipped in well to keep things from getting ugly very quickly. Between them, they took five important wickets.

Thomas Sully took some vital wickets to keep things interesting.

When bums got squeaky in the second innings, though, there was nobody who stepped up to save Nick Agger's men from collapse. Kelby Rogerson had a debut to forget, despite his first-innings three-for, as he notched up a pair and leaked the winning runs.

Kelby Rogerson didn't have an easy start to his red-ball career.

@The Author One small request, can you add bowls too with Runs... please...

To four innings worth of scorecards, from every game? Perhaps not.

I'll tell everyone their balls faced for the season when it finishes though, and give updates from time to time if you want them

Nice performance with the bat from my end. How are you simming this mate?

Nice display by me. :D
