Scripting

There was one beta build which was brilliant and very realistic but that went again. I think there is much much much more in the game that isnt coming out yet because of balancing issues. We get glimpses of what the game could be if everything comes together: they have to keep the window of balance tight but if they can keep widening that window this game will be spectacular...
Absolutely right...

Yeah there was one beta patch where i had the ball flying off thr edge going for fours etc.

Sadly the current patch, in my opinion has made the bowling to the AI worse than how it was.

I was at one point with reduced stats having test matches with 6/10 dismissles being edges etc.

Sadly they have become very rare again.

I find it very hard to compare because we're not able to control weather.

Were you getting edges because it was the rare occasion you actually got overcast conditions, and they're disappearing because it's clear, or were there changes in a patch? Who knows.

ok, a few overs on default ATB West Indies v Bangladesh, Test match (for which both teams wore colours) on Pro.

one edge to a vacant point in about the 3rd over. first wicket:

LBW getting knee in the way cutting a straight ball: I have not seen this dismissal since lowering skills/attributes.

For the rest, the one edge was encouraging as it came off a defensive prod; having played so long with lowered skills I found the extravagant swing arcadey and almost cartoonish. The AI aggression was about right.

Could play just 5 overs unfortunately but shall return to it later.

Then if the default teams works well and gives the realistic results then they should just lock down the skills and attributes for the International teams and other domestic teams with fake names and allow us to replace the player appearance with the default ones...And any team downloaded from academy should be considered as separate and shouldnt mix up...

Well that dismissal is not the default teams going well - it's awful.

Right now you can download and choose not to alter skills/attributes but the rosters are so out of date I don't know how that would work for mismatched players.

Saying this for the 100,000th time - but for a game that advertises community created content as a feature, Big Ant's failure to give proper guidance about setting skills and attributes is stupid to the point of self harmful.

I think all the attributes, all the sliders etc., they all work. But they are nowhere near powerful enough.. Which leads us all to askwhether things are cosmetic, and whether they are actually affecting what they are supposed to. Why did Russia hit 200 odd against ATB Aussies, etc.

In actual fact ATB Aussies will always win. Warner will always score more quickly than Anderson, and he will score more runs. But the actual difference isn't very large at all, which means we are playing excellent cricket, with very similar teams. A feeling I remember having with Brian Lara 99.

The other end of the spectrum is Brian Lara 05. Where a Lara would leg glance every ball for six, and James Anderson would be so useless as to not get a run in a hundred opportunities. Remember that tailender animation?

What we need is something in between. And the Big Ant silence on skilling and it's effects is deafening. Quite strange as we all love the game and will buy whatever they churn out. It's not like they're going to lose anything by sharing a few trade secrets, even if it's admitting some errors.

I've never seen such an in-depth player creation and skilling suite this side of Madden 15.. Bit annoying though that we can edit Alistair Cook's philtrum, but we can't stop him hoiking to mid-on without reducing his skills drastically.

Absolutely, one reverse swing stumps fly to the boundary and that sound....:D

I mean its a known fact now to all that the skills, attributes and stats are things that need to be done in a way that it becomes a mirror to the gameplay in the next version and BA would have noted that...Being their first game I wouldn't stress much as the amount of variety with the base to discuss so many characteristics and features is incredible...I do accept as Blocker says they should have explained, maybe they were unsure themselves hence the silence regarding that....
I love the fact that they will be working on bridging the gap between what game is trying to show you and what is actually being shown graphically....

The encouraging thing is that BAbare on to it. I dont think their will be much more to to with the current game but I am positive that the next game will be much better in this regard. And we are not that far away from that......maybe a year, maybe less?

Well if they are releasing the next game as "DBC 16" I would be surprised if it's not out Christmas this year else I would've branded it DBC 17 if it was coming out next year.

...or Don Bradman Cricket 14 Patch 3: Legacy Mode
