Sri Lanka tour of India

  1. Rohit Sharma
  2. KL Rahul
  3. Virat Kohli
  4. Suryakumar Yadav
  5. Rishabh Pant
  6. Venketesh Iyer
  7. Ravindra Jajeda
  8. Deepak Chahar
  9. Chahal/Bishnoi
  10. Siraj
  11. Bumrah
Nearly the same XI I want India to play. Perhaps we are actually heading to a right track with some clarity in approach unlike previous few tournaments (I think it goes back down to 2015 WC under Dhoni).

71st Century is around the corner, I can feel it.
Fukc 71. Let that man play his game.

Also, half the tour done and this thread isn't stuck yet.

Tomorrow is a big day for Indian Cricket. We have one of our best batters and one of the Cricketers of this generation playing his 100th Test. Playing a 100th Test in this day and age is such a prestigious occasion especially if you are an Indian Cricketer with expectations of the fans.

To have an batting average of 50.4 and scoring close to 8k Test runs is a massive achievement! Along with that Kohli has Captained India for most matches having a win% of close to 60. Again very impressive.

Irrespective of the blunders he made or may it be innumerable mind numbing calls but the fact prevails that he just gave his best. He clearly raised the standard of Test Cricket in India and that is why he would be remembered.

Hope to see him cross that 8k mark tomorrow.

A great write-up this!

Having a technique that suits oneself is at times an under rated thing. But the ones who are willing to consistently improve themselves over time have thrived better as far as this game is concerned. Virat Kohli is an example of it.

Its time to give Shubman Gill a good run now. The guy plays fast bowling really well and we saw how instrumental he was in that classic Perth test Gabba test win. I'd play Gill any day over Shreyas Iyer and Gill could also be future captaincy option.

A new number 3. A short tail and an almost 35-year-old player who is debuting as a captain. Very unusual Indian team this.

India's number 9 has a Test Century. That is some batting depth in this match. Also seeing Bumrah-Shami duo after a long time in whites.

Wait what?

Rohit Sharma and the pull shot in tests, more of no no for me, he's gotten out more than scoring runs in tests at least.

Why was Vihari preferred over Gill? Doesn't make sense to me...
Usually a no.3 is Test Cricket is supposed to hold the innings together. Tbh I don't see that facet in Gill hence I would want him to either open or bat at 4. Gill does have skills more than any other young player in India but I feel he would do well in his aggressive role. He would do well if he plays his natural game then to mould him into something else.

For me Vihari is that guy who would perfectly fit Pujara's role hence he should get to bat at 3.

On to Shreyas Iyer, I think he can make a better Captain than Gill. Also he had a great debut series scoring a century in his very first innings in testing times. Plus he looks to be in a kind of form in limited overs Cricket that could translate into Test Cricket. It's tough on him to miss out today!
