Sri Lanka's tour of India - November 2014

Things to note from Duleep Trophy Semi Finals

Gambhir 167 ,Naman Ojha 217 in Central Zone vs North Zone.
Uttappa 120 ,Binny 4/24 & 3/23 in East Zone vs South Zone.

So I think Gambhir has got a more chance to tour Australia than Sehwag.A good CLT20 and a 167 in Duleep trophy to follow for Gambhir.

I really don't understand why Rishi Dhawan is kept away from the international squad ? If we are keen on picking up medium pacers (like Kulkarni), might as well pick up someone who can bat a bit as well. Nothing against Kulkarni who did quite well with the India A squad and in the Duleep semi final - so definitely cannot question his seleciton. But I think we are missing a trick in not picking up a bowling all-rounder who has been "in-form"

Saha reported to have a small injury and hopefully he may get fit before the series starts. This is a rare opportunity he has after travelling with the team for so long a time as a backup for Dhoni.Doesn't want him to miss this especially for an injury.

Massive comeback by hitman. Brilliant inning ended by run out for 142 off 111.

Rohit ensures his spot in the last ODIs with that knock. Also impressed with how Karn Sharma bowled. He has bowled well in all warm up matches recently and did well in his T20 debut as well.He would make it to the WC squad in my opinion.

October 31st, 2005 - India vs Srilanka

9 years ago, this very day, against Sri Lanka
a long-haired and fearless cricketer swaggered into international cricket and scored a brutal 183 not out against Sri Lanka in an innings that made Sehwag look snail-like.That innings also saw him break Adam Gilchrist's record for the highest score by a wicket-keeper in a One Day International with an array of almost agricultural shots and a bat that he wielded like an axe.

The visitors had put up a massive total on the board, 298. Dhoni went in at No.3 after the fall of Sachin Tendulkar's wicket and took the bowling apart. There were 15 fours and 10 sixes that came off his bat and he saw India home with nearly 4 overs to spare.

This innings defined MSD the finisher, a role that has been associated with him over the years.

Underdone Sri Lanka dial down expectations | Cricket News | India v Sri Lanka | ESPN Cricinfo

SL have approached this series wisely, and put all the pressure on India, even going on to refer to themselves as underdogs and unprepared for the tour. While personally I feel this is nonsense, and SL are a top side and one of the favs for the WC, but I do like how they are putting all the pressure on India.

Its not like India were preparing for the SL series either. They were preparing to take on WI and have had exactly the same time as SL to prepare. However SL are putting the onus on India.

I think a 3-2 Ind would be a fair result, a 2-3 reversal acceptable for either side.

Good to see Michael Holding , shabby and Ian Bishop in the commentry team!
Lankans won the toss and desired to field first!
Also the pitch report :
pitch looks hard with a bit of cracks
so , a shower of runs can be expected in the day's game.
200th game for raina , Jaddu has been rested & Axar gets his chance!
