T20 World Cup 2012

I don't know why do you want McLaren in the team? He is nothing special. He has strike rate around 108 and hasn't done wonders with ball as well. I would prefer Tsotsobe over him. He can be very useful with his off and leg cutters.

If it is you are basing your judgement on McLaren based on his raw T20 to call him nothing special, then you are highly mistaken.

Given the dynamics of T20 cricket many good player of that format dont exactly average to potential with either bat or ball.

McLaren is a solid all-rounder and if you have been following Saffies cricket closely, even since he decided to go back to SA after giving up a chance to represent England. He is one of the many white players that have been overlooked in place of coloured player in S Africa's shadow quota policy.

----------

I hear you, but just be careful with what you're saying...

As for Tsotsobe, he is currently the #1 ranked ODI bowler on the ICC rankings, if anyone deserves a spot it's him. The other guys you've listed, not so much, but Tsotsobe definitely DOES deserve a spot.

I'm aware of his # 1 ranking according to that joke system and its laughable AFAIC.

I don't now what he has done to attain that lofty status and i certainly don't recall any performances in ODI's of him that has made world cricket stand up.

However don't lets bury our heads in the sand, quota's still exist in S Africa's cricket selection policy - its just done in a more discrete manner. Given how strong S Africa generally are, they tend to get away with it - but from time to time, it is exposed.

All teams will be good in there own way, I not ruling any team out, defo not Zimbabwe

Well West Indies can easily win this world cup if they play to their true potential. Gayle has to be in his 'IPL-ish' form.

thats a very bold statement to make, before the tournament has started

Not really when you consider the odds of India not winning are about 1/5 or 1/6 ie. the bet would pay 0.15 in vBookie terms!

Wow. did not know that. I can see why you made that statement now

I would'nt bet on India, their recent performances have shamed the nation. Seems like we are indeed pussycats abroad and tigers at home. The problem with the Indian team is that we rely too much on a givne few names, without checking if they are match-fir or not. Take the case of Suresh Raina or even Yuvraj, who in all probability will play owing to a sympathy vote from the captain.

We are talking T20's here. Second, we are playing in Sri Lanka, not anywhere outside the subcontinent. And as far as Yuvraj goes, he is targeting the 2 T20's vs NZ that will be played before this WC. The guy has said he is not rushing through his comeback, and seeing that he is coming back from cancer, I am sure the people around him wont let him rush his comeback.

What is the significance of India playing in the subcontinent? Lets draw the comparisons why some of you foolishly suggest that the subcontinent represent India, that India is the subcontinent and the subcontinent is India. The pitches are totally different now, in the past the subcontinent pitches were slow, offered turn and so on but now the Indian pitches are all flat tracks, roads for the flat track bullies to pile up their runs, like Sachin the ultimate flat track bully. Sri Lanka still have the traditional subcontinental slow pitches, so by all means India will be further from home than some of you fools would think.

Hello IDIOT - India playing in the subcontinent assumes quite a significance. India is perturbed by pace and bounce (that's their biggest weakness), and the subcontinent wickets never offer the kind of pace and bounce that would trouble India. The last two times India fared badly in the T20 WC, they were undone by the pace and bounce only. Sri Lanka won't have it. India is more comfortable with the traditional subcontinental slow pitches than the fast and bouncy ones. And there are no mystery spinners anyone that India haven't had good exposure too (the IPL made sure India have faced Narine well enough; and Mendis isn't even playing for SL anymore)

Calling Sachin a flat track bully is absolutely ridiculous and insanity! Sachin has scored runs all around the world and against all kinds of attacks. If you had called someone like Sehwag or a Raina as a flat track bully, would have had to accept it. But Sachin? You seemed to initially wear the garb of being a reasonable India critic, but your true colors seem to be coming out now.

Sorry man, if I caused any hard feelings, I think my initial post was a bit too rough. However I still hold to the basis of my arguments, and as pointed out by yourself they are susceptible to the short ball, it is a given and widely known. Also I still hold fast to the view that Sachin is a flat track bully, the reason why he isn't on the ODI tour is due to the fact that SL are a strong team, had it been Ireland/Zimbabwe or some minnow I sure he wouldve taken up the chance to pile up some cheap runs. As to my true colours, lolz relax yourself its only a sport forum, nothing more man.

Sachin saved himself up for the CB series in Australia by not playing quite a few of the ODI series. And if Sachin was a flat track bully, he would have conveniently skipped either the England or the Australia tour and also would have started playing less test matches (where the going was a lot tougher). And people who have followed cricket for the last decade or two would never say Sachin is a flat track bully. His technique is one of the most soundest in international cricket, and he along with Dravid have been India's best test batsmen in recent times.

I'm sorry that I reacted to your post in the same way. :)

West Indies line up looks gun for me, they have all qualities to be World T20 champion-

Gayle
Sammy
Bravo
Pollard
Narine
Ravi Rampaul
With few others like Dinesh Ramdin and Marlon Samuels, who can play according to what situation demands.

Heart says India, mind says West Indies.

And regarding India, it all comes down to how they bowl. Ashwin must be in his prime form, if India are in contention to win this one.

Drop Zaheer, yes, drop him. He never does anything good in T20s.

West Indies has all the qualities to be the t20 winners, whereas Pakistan and india are better as well, but I think the Favourites are England.
