Tamil Music/Movie Thread

Naan Rajavaga Pogiren, GV's album released. I liked it, a fine album after Thaandavam. Malgova song by Sonu Kakkar is excellent. :thumbs

Saw Poda Podi the other day... Simbhu, please just stop this acting business all together and Varalaxmi, I never ever want to you see you star in a movie, ever.

Usually hate the auto tuned "junk", but like everything else, there's exceptions. :p

Its hilariously good.... I finished watching it just last night (I actually started it last week, but due to my moving jobs, I finished it only y'day:D ). Its an excellent movie with lots of genuine humor. No forced humor for the sake of it, or no slapstick. And the concept is very interesting. MUST WATCH!! The hero, Vijay Sethupathy, is just too good. But the guy who plays "Baaskie" takes the cake (guess he might be the director). And its a true life story, it seems!

Think he's the friend of the cinematographer(the guy who had the story actually happen to), but anyways, he was superb, all the 3 friends were good tbh.

I really liked "Neethane En Ponvasantham". Samantha was astonishingly GOOD in it, and Jiiva was good as he always is. Though, Jiiva had the hangover of 'Siva Manasula Sakthi' in his film. Especially the second half carried a lot of the weight of the film, and I thought it was really good. The character of Samantha made me get annoyed and made me feel for Jiiva, but which says that she did a super good job, and also the fact that I know girls and boys in real life can be like that where they have ego hassles.

To me, NEP was better than VTV too, but for the music. Not that Raja's music was bad, but Rahman's music in VTV was better. In some of the places, the re-recording felt like I was watching a village based film. The scene where Samantha travels after she gets to know that she is losing Jiiva, Ilayaraja sings a pathos song in his voice, which is so bad for an urban based film that it spoils the mood.... Missed Rahman or Harris for this film! Raja should stick to rural subjects only.

Thanks for that Sai, took a bullet for us all, I'll check it out when the DVD hits the disc.

Anyone see Kumki? I liked Mynaa quite a bit, so I'll definitely be giving it a view.

The DVD quality is already out (Lotus Five Star version). Same for Kumki too, which I am going to watch tonight. I am actually surprised that the DVD quality of both these films (very new ones) are out this early.

Oh really, this early? Usually takes at least 2 weeks...

I have watched NEP 2 more times since last night. The entire day today was spent watching NEP. Its just my kind of a movie! Developing a huge crush for Samantha.... And this is one rare movie where Santhanam's comedy works really well FOR ME. Especially his dialogues when Jiiva sees Samantha dancing to the "Rangeelo Baro Dholna" song on stage is just awesome..!!! Samantha's reactions when Jiiva (or Gautham Menon in his awfully sruthi-less voice) sings "Neethane Endhan Ponvasantham", is EPIC!!

Samantha is the life of the film. She will bring repeat viewers just for her. I wish I can get a girl like Samantha in my life (Seriously! But looks wise... Not like her character, Nithya. I can't tail behind such girls and cater to their ego's).:D

Yep. Its a rarity. Seeing that both NEP and Kumki are out on Lotus, probably they are trying out some tactic against pirated copies.

Kumki's locations are great. Good film to watch. Climax CG is bad, even Annai Kaaligambal's graphics was better. :p
