How was NEP?

With the year gonna end soon, let's post the cine review here. It's been a great year for Kollywood so far. Lots of variety.

Favorite film - 3 and Naan Ee

A tough choice, but as it's favorite film I would give my vote to '3'(haters gonna hate ) Sama feelings pa. What a chemistry between the lead pair, whoa! I loved Naan Ee too, a complete satisfactory film. It gets my vote for direction and graphics.

Favorite actor and lyricist - Dhanush

Last year's national award winning actor has come back with a great performance in 3. Dhanush has become popular with the Kolaveri hit throughout the world. He did a great job in that as an actor, a lyricist and a singer too. Best line of him, "Idhu varai unnudan vazhntha en naatkal, maru murai vazhnthida vazhi illaya?"

Favorite actress - Samantha

What a girl, so cute she was! I watched NEP three or four times just for her expression. She did so well in NEP and Naan Ee. I like her cute expressions and smiles.

Best song of the year probably.

Best album - '3' Moonu

Without doubts, everyone would agree with this. Anirudh rocked with his debut. This album will stand in my heart forever. His flute and piano tunes works great!

Best director - AR Murugadoss

ARM gets the vote for his Diwali's hottest film, Thuppakki. His Thuppakki fired well.

Best comedian - Santhanam

This man undoubtedly is ruling the comedy tracks of films. OKOK is a best example, without him the film is scrap.

Disappointments - Vettai, Billa II, Saguni, Mugamoodi, Maattrraan, Poda Podi, Ammavin Kaipesi
Surprises - Pizza, Naan, Attakathi, Thadaiyara Thaaka, NKPK
Favorites - 3, Naan Ee, NEP, Nanban, Thuppakki, Kazhugu, OKOK, Thaandavam

I will be biased here, and say that Thuppakki is the best film of the year with Murugadoss the best director of the year, and Vijay as the best actor of the year. For Vijay, this is a new domain and for Murugadoss, he is coming after a failure (7AM Arivu). So chances of clicking was not that high, but it clicked wonderfully well. And Vijay had a super good year with both Nanban and Thuppaki.

Best Actress would be Samantha (for NEP). Best comedian also goes to NEP's Santhanam. Best album of the year goes to Kadal (which released this year). Semma variety! Biggest disappointment would be Maattraan. Best lyricist this year is Dhanush, hands down! He is writing very catchy lyrics which also are message oriented, but in a more youthful style (e.g. in the "Local Boys" song of Ethir Neechal, he writes "keezha bun irukku, vaanathula sun iruku, inikki dhan mukkiyam da azhudhu saavadha").
