Aarambam getting good reviews, and since its an Ajith film, its getting a massive opening. Ajith films are mostly good when he plays characters with grey shades (I mean not just his hair; but his character itself). I am watching it tomorrow. I loved Mankatha, and hope this one is close to Mankatha.

People told me it has traces of Mankatha but did not live upto Mankatha's mass! I loved Mankatha too, will catch up Aarambham soon.

Watched Aarambam today. HORRIBLLEEEEE movie! :mad The problem starts with the hero, Ajith himself. He is so fat and looks so ugly for a mass hero that the intro song ended up being unintentionally funny and an embarassment. When he is clean shaven, his face looks more bloated up and downright ugly.

Second, you don't expect a masala script with so many loose ends from a director like Vishnuvardhan who is known for films like Arindhum Ariyamalum and Pattiyal. This film is a revenge drama based on politicians scam and how the hero takes revenge for a death and cleans system. Ring a bell? Very similar to so so many films (e.g. Vijay's "Villu" is one example that immediately comes to mind). Songs are yawn, and background score is an even bigger yawn. Yuvan needs a break seriously. Arya is wasted in a mediocre role. Nayan is one who glowed in this film. She has improved lots.

Overall, a massively skip worthy film. Watch it if you are a die hard fanatic of Ajith and you are really dying to watch him onscreen even though in an oft beaten script.

Getting horrible reviews for Azaghuraja. Seems like Karthi-Santhanam combo isn't really working.

The Vishal starrer Pandiya Nadu is getting average reviews.

PS: Please don't tell me Siruthai was a good movie.

Watched Pandiya Nadu , it was too boring :( , basically i love to watch suseenthran's movie because of his good screenplay, but he failed in this movie....

some of the characters doesn't suits this movie...even vishal itself not suiting for that character,no madurai slang, locations not good.... Vikranth was the only guy who suits well for this movie..... Music was good :thumbs

I am actually hearing positive reviews for Pandiya Naadu and that its the dark horse winner of the Diwali race in terms of content. But after the Aarambam fiasco, I am not going to believe in positive reviews of any film atleast for now.

I want All in All Azhagu Raja to flop. For that combo, which is so overrated.

^ But Comparing with All in All Azhagu Raja , Pandiya Nadu was Best :thumbs

if you watched Azhagu Raja , Surely You will Need a Pain Killer medicines :p

is Aarambam was a Big Flop  i am happy as a Vijay Fan :cheers

But Ajith Fans Acting like a big win :lol like Thuppaki for last Year

You mean Karthi and Santhanam?

Aarambam's an one-time watch. A few people are overrating it here. The film's too serious without a comedy sequence. I found it partly boring at times, fans should be glad that the film released in Diwali so it enjoyed success. Or it would have been an average grosser like Thalaiva.

In India, the trend of a big mass hero doing any film and it raking up big numbers is common. You have a mass hero in Tamil Nadu do a film, market it well and the opening numbers are very good. By the time the movie struggles to sustain, the makers recover more than enough money and label the movie a big hit. This happens in Bollywood too. A Salman or a Shahrukh or an Aamir film easily touches 100 crores. If they make a masala film, its cheaper to make them and so they make profits very easily irrespective of the content of the film. Jab Tak Hai Jaan which was criticised made 100+ crores. And its budget was just 50-70 odd crores. Dabaang 2 was a horrible film, and it was a 100+ crore superhit.

Not at all healthy for the industry. Fan worship is seriously making bad movies run well. And big stars take the easy route of satisfying the fans and end up making mediocre products. Thuppaki and Mankatha were exceptions though, and were good films that became big hits.

You mean Karthi and Santhanam?

Rajesh and Santhanam. And also Karthi to an extent. The guy's lost his head (same with his brother too) and is making crap masala films instead of waiting for good scripts like Paruthiveeran, Naan Mahaan Alla, Aayirathil Oruvan, etc. Both Karthi and Surya are going down the wrong path and will burn themselves pretty badly for sure.

I am not really disappointed with Suriya actually, its maybe because I like him a lot. But honestly Singam and Singam 2 are necessary to mint some money, on a personal note I didn't like both. Suriya's best is Sillunu Oru Kadhal till date which came like 8 years back. Hope he chooses such films.

I have lost interest in Surya in recent times. I used to really like him a lot, a year or two back, but off late his script selection and his highly artificial public speaking (especially in functions and events) have left me very irritated. He is very frankly acting out even in real life, and that's quite irritating. Especially the recent Nescafe Sunrise singing stunt that he pulled off, looked so artificial. And his recent films 7am Arivu, Maattrran and Singam have all left me unimpressed (the films 7am Arivu and Maattraan looked OK to me when I watched them first time; but now I cant watch them again and I understand that my fanaticism at that time for Surya made me find these movies OK).

7aam Arivu and Maatran were hell horrible. I couldn't put up with those movies totally, I walked out of the theatre. Now Dhruva Natchathiram is also shelved. He is now doing a film with Lingusamy and pairing up with Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Lingusamy film, so rest assured its another masala flick, hope atleast it is something like Run and not something like Paiyaa!

Films like Kakka Kakka & singam 1 are really better than SOK in my view, which suited surya well. Personally I didn't like SOK except for ARR's songs.

I actually liked SOK for most part (apart from those Bhumika parts). Bhumika was horrible for that role. A wooden actress. I wish Asin had accepted that role when it was offered to her.

Singam 1 was OK, but nowhere in the league of the cult classic Kaakha Kaakha. Kaakha Kaakha is a milestone film in Tamil cinema. Can watch it even when we are 90 yrs old.:yes Also Ghajini was brilliant.
