Tamil Music/Movie Thread

The words used in Kaakha Kaakha were uncensored. They have come out so well in the context of the movie. Gautham Menon showed us that he can do non romantic movies too. Also Vettayadu Velayadu was a pretty decent film from a director who is considered to have only romance as his fortress.

Kaakha Kaakha and Vettaiyadu Vilayadu are Gautham's top two best films. His romantic films pale in comparison to these films. VV was not just a decent film. It was a very very good film. He has just created the image of a romantic film director. His VTV was overhyped. It was good, but nothing great. It was spoiled by two not so talented actors, Simbhu and Trisha. His Minnale was terrific, but again KK and VV were much better.

Minnale and Vinnai Thandi Varuvaaya were too brilliant and beyond comparison in my opinion. Trisha is one of the better actress in tamil.

Because they are romantic movies, obviously:rolleyes:p

Trisha is nowhere in the leagues of actresses like Simran and Jyothika in terms of acting. Well among her contemporaries itself, Asin, Samantha and Nayanthara are better actresses than Trisha. Trisha is more of an eye candy who looks amazingly beautiful onscreen and has a screen presence, thats all. The rest have that and better acting skills too.

Simran and Jothika? Buddy, they are brilliant, no comparison with them whatsoever, that too Simran! Wow! What a woman!

I feel Trisha is better than Nayanthara, Asin etc.. though.

@Santosh: Neethane En Ponvasantham was okay. I was crazy about the Nithya Vasudevan character when the movie came but overall the movie was a let down i feel because a lot was expected from Gautham Menon especially after the success of Vinnai Thandi Varuvaaya!

Just watched AAA Marana Mokka huge disappointment being a rajesh fan.

Trisha is better than Nayan and Asin in terms of looks only... As far as acting goes, definitely Asin leads by far. Nayan too in her recent films Raja Rani and Aarambam has shown that she is a better actress. Her emoting is much better than Trisha (when Trisha emotes, she puts on baby expressions).

Anyways, in Tamil cinema, actresses are rarely evaluated for their acting skills. They are evaluated based on which movies did the audience like and which movie became a hit. If Asin or Trisha star in a hit film and that too with a mass hero, then people will say she is the current best actress and better actress.

Watched "Chennaiyil Oru Naal". Well mixed feelings about the film. The storyline was gripping, and the narrative was taken forward pretty well. But the acting, the cast selection and the climax were major dealbreakers for me to call this film "good". The casting was horrible, especially those love birds Karthik and Anita. Terrible actors both of them.

About the heroine - special mention of Parvathy Menon must be made here! After a long long time, a Tamil heroine who is filled with loads of substance and some tremendous acting. Parvathy Menon can kick the backs of various current actresses. Her performance as Panimalar is just wonderful. Her eyes are so captivating, and she uses her smile and her eyes to perfection. Last time I was so smitten by an actress's performance was Jyothika in Mozhi. Parvathy Menon should stay here for long.

Couldn't you infer that it was the roles that made her look different in Mariyaan than in Chennaiyil Oru Naal? And in that review of "Chennaiyil Oru Naal", I said they were terrible actors, not that they should not stay in the industry. Probably my comment on Parvathy "being a terrible actor" was a little too harsh.

Pizza II - The Villa:

Less than two hours, no story, no climax ( some people feel it is kept like that for Pizza 3), one can just brush up about JJ Thomson effect, that's it. Pizza 1 was much better.

In one line, short films have more story than what this nonsense had!

Saw another utter nonsense called All in all Azaghuraja! I don't know how on earth such films are even being directed. Never expected Santhanam to do such crap movies. Santhanam was made to look better than Kajal and eventually like a ----. Yuck!

Irandaam Ulagam, what a film! One of the masterpieces in Tamil cinema. Great attempt, must watch. It's for wise audience. Selvaraghavan, he's a genius!

One of the rare positive reviews for the film, which is being thrashed pretty badly. Even Aayirathil Oruvan was not thrashed this much.

I started watching Irandaam Ulagam for the first 20 mins, and couldn't push on beyond it. I might watch it when the DVD comes out, but from what I've seen so far, it looked pretty boring
