When the Bangladesh team was over in New Zealand I was really impressed by this kid, only 19 I think. I would say he is already the best batsmen Bangladesh have, better then Ashraful who is very overrated. Do most of you agree that he could become a very very good player, or will he just fade out.

The guy they had opening with Tamim in NZ, Junaid Siddique, seemed to have a fair bit of ability as well. The problem is that they've had so many guys like that come about in the past 5 years or so. The players that they select tend to have amazing capacity for playing shots, but composure and consistency that is brittle when put to the test. They say Ashraful plays one big innings each year; although a bemusing quality, the reason he's rated so highly is that is still more than anyone else. Although inconsistent, he is Bangladesh's Brian Lara; in their microcosm, he has scored the most Test hundreds. Even the much more consistent Habibul Bashar scored less hundreds in his 50 Test career.

A lot of these guys will eventually get somewhere with their cricket. For their age bracket, they are playing a much more demanding form of cricket than those who eventually become stars for other countries. Mohammad Ashraful, for example; I mentioned Habibul Bashar's 50 Test career, well Ashraful has played 42 Tests and 119 ODIs at the age of 23. His career could well include over 300 ODIs and more than 100 Tests. A great number of these players are even younger. That leaves plenty of space for improvements to be made. It's only a matter of how long the patience lasts.

I HIGHLY rate Tamim. He's one of my favorite batsman outside India, he's just pure quality when he's playing to full potential.

I'll never forget the sixes he hit against us in the World Cup. Class.

yes he's been a great find... he can play great cover drive shots, and most of aggressive/defensive shots as well... he is in good form, he is consitent i hope he keeps it up.. if he can do so he can be one of the best batsman in the world... and i would love to see tamim in IPL also...

He is only 18, and I think he is the only Bangladeshi batsman averaging over 30 in tests (or one of few at least). When he matures as a cricketer, he will be a delight to watch.

For me Tamim has to be a lot more consistent in his batting and he needs a strong opening batter to bat with. He has shown that he can be the aggressor at the top of the order.

Yes, Shakib Al Hasan is a very complete player. His style isn't as flashy as a lot of his team mates, but his composure and temperament are elite. Gives the ball a hell of a rip, too.

Yeah he is aggressive but he is too flashy at times (much like most other batsman from bagladesh). But yeah he is an enormous potential but with such an incosistent team it'll be hard for him to transform his potential to reality.

He's still really young though.

Makes me feel weird, he's just two years older then me and he's pawning the best bowlers in the world.

my tip to tamim would be to bat longer and give support to his other team mates like nafees, ashraful and aftab who are still trying to get back in form... he has to balance both aggresion and defense... we all think he is a big hitter but his strike rate is just 68 and average in one days is 26 which can improve if he can balance his shots...

lmao, you betcha!

Another batsman too good for his team is Ryan Ten Doeschate, the man is averaging 55!

He is a beast, plus he's an all rounder, fielding, batting, bowling, heck probably even keeping. :p
