Most overrated cricketer on the planet...

I think its too early to judge some of these young English batsman but i believe that Andrew Flintoff is overrated in his batting. I believe he is very vulnerable against leg spin. Both Warne and Hogg have had alot of success against him and i think he looks a tad confused at times when facing them.

Your right he doesn't read spin that well, not overrated though still a good batsmen but is out of form.

Yeah true he is out of form. Do you think Geraint Jones should be dropped for the second test after his disaterous perform in the first test. Jones does not know how to keep!

Nope, Lords is one of the most difficult pitches to keep on, he's the best of the bunch imo. Read isn't a good enough batsmen, so who next Prior? need someone with some test experience. Jones will keep the gloves and rightly so. He has improved his keeping as he has been learning from Russell.

He'll have to do alot of work with Russell in order to get ready for the next test cause if he misses chances like he did at Lords then England will get slaughtered. I think if Read can make a 20 or 30 at no.7 they should pick him. Can he do that?

As it's probably the second toughest place to visit after Australia.
Forgetting the dust bowls of India? ;)

The worst thing England can do now is chop and change their team. This is a team that has proven that they are pretty good (albeit against weaker oppositions--but you still gotta beat them). They are clearly the underdogs in The Ashes, so they should even be happy if they lose the series 2-0 or 3-1. Chopping and changing would be emulating the Pakistan management of past--where captains and players came and went in randomness. The ECB has got to stick to their current crop, who have shown that they can even trouble Australia given good conditions and a slight bit of arrogance on the part of the Aussies.

Read had plenty of chances about 15 tests. only averaged about 20. Jones just had an off day imo.

what u mean right now or both if it mean that then sir don bradman

Well no one else noticed it or what this guy just said Sir Donald Bradman to be the most overrated cricketer.

Now thats a statement

I'd love to see Jones kept there, and to be he has been keeping very well up to the catches, and (this is isnt just biased) i dont think Read or Prior or anyone else, can score enough runs, of course is he starts to fail with the bat, they will eventually have to drop him and try Read and the likes, but i think they should stick with him for a little longer.

When i think of Read batting in a test match, all i see is him ducking a Cairns yorker.

You can't drop a keeper after one bad game, that's folly. If you can look at this guy, Geraint Jones and say that he is the best man for the job in all of England, then he should have it. As it stands he's been holding his own enough as a batsman to compare with Vaughan or Flintoff.

Trouble is he has to score a lot of runs to make up for the dropped catches and missed stumpings, but then again I've always been of the opinion that Read was harshly treated when he was cast aside.

Prior is very agressive and isn't always played as a keeper sometimes Ambrose gets it.

Kiki Wessels at Northants son of kepler wessels i think qualifies for England although he is too unexperienced. Keep Jones in for me, read hasn't done that well with the bat tbh.

If we're still talking about under-rated players, I'd like to drop Naved-Ul-Hasan's name in there. What do you guys think?

The point is, you can't just drop Jones for Read for a single poor performance and then maybe decide that Read isn't right and pick someone else. That's not selection, that's lottery.

Jones wont be dropped. I thought Simon Jones had a good test. COuld have had 5 wickets, needs more consistency though and he could be a great bowler.
