Update: Lunch Day 1

Australia 2/111 (27) RR- 4.11

Ponting 33* (33)
Martyn 7* (14)
Langer 33 (69)
Hayden 33 (47)

Gayle 6-2-1/18
Banks 6-2-1/43
Collins 10-2-0/32
Edwards 5-2-0/14

A very even first session with both Aussie openers surviving the opening bowlers on a raging green seamer, but falling to the spinners after very promising starts. Ponting looks to be in great form, hitting 7 boundaries in his 33 so far, and will be looking to combine with Martyn to take the Aussies up to an imposing first innings score.

Update: Tea Day 1

Australia 3/231 (55) RR- 4.2

Ponting 89* (98)
Lehmann 44* (86)
Martyn 21 (32)
Langer 33 (69)
Hayden 33 (47)

Gayle 19-2-2/70
Banks 11-3-1/55
Collins 11-3-0/32
Edwards 14-1-0/65

After the early loss of Martyn the Aussies dominated this session, scoring 120 runs for the loss of one wicket. Lehmann and Ponting are both looking confident and will be hoping to notch up a large total.

Update: Stumps Day 1

Australia 3/355 (83) RR- 4.27

Ponting 149* (184)
Lehmann 108* (162)
Martyn 21 (32)
Langer 33 (69)
Hayden 33 (47)

Gayle 28-2-2/115
Banks 22-3-1/108
Collins 14-4-0/41
Edwards 18-1-0/84

The Australians are in complete control at the end of day 1, having added 124 runs for no loss in the last session. The West Indies appear totally demoralised, reverting to defensive fields with up to 5 men on the boundary even with the second new ball. Ponting and Lehmann have both made magnificent hundreds and look eager to go on to even bigger scores.

Thanks- we're on holidays now so I'll probably have the innings finished pretty soon.

Update: Lunch Day 2

Australia 4/489 (108) RR- 4.53

Lehmann 170* (231)
Katich 59* (71)
Ponting 161 (200)
Martyn 21 (32)
Langer 33 (69)
Hayden 33 (47)

Gayle 32-2-2/140
Banks 32-3-2/169
Collins 19-4-0/58
Edwards 19-1-0/88
Sanford 6-0-0/24

The Australians remain in control, adding 134 runs for the loss of only Ponting, LBW for a brilliant 161. Katich and Lehmann are gathering runs at will, and the only chance of the hapless Windies having a bat in the near future looks to be a declaration. The Aussies may well be looking to only have to bat once in this match.

Update: Tea Day 2

Australia 5/624 (135) RR- 4.62

Lehmann 224* (306)
Gilchrist 37* (25)
Katich 101 (135)
Ponting 161 (200)
Martyn 21 (32)
Langer 33 (69)
Hayden 33 (47)

Gayle 40-2-2/184
Banks 39-3-2/215
Collins 19-4-0/58
Edwards 27-1-1/123
Sanford 10-0-0/34

Led by an unbeaten double century from Darren Lehmann the Aussies have compiled a huge total, and still there is no sign of a declaration from Ponting.

There's no hurry, I much prefer batting to doing nothing :)

Update: 5:11 PM Day 2

Australia 7/700 dec (148) RR- 4.73

Warne 10* (11)
Lee 1* (1)
Lehmann 245 (329)
Ponting 161 (200)
Katich 101 (135)
Gilchrist 80 (73)
Langer 33 (69)
Hayden 33 (47)
Martyn 21 (32)

Gayle 44-2-2/216
Banks 45-3-3/246
Collins 19-4-0/58
Edwards 29.4-1-2/135
Sanford 11-0-0/35

Australia have put themselves into an almost unbeatable position, finally putting the Windies out of their misery when the total reached 700. Brilliant innings were played by Lehmann and Ponting in particular, with Katich and Gilchrist also contributing well. The Aussie bowlers have plenty of runs to play with and should be looking to make some early inroads on this seam friendly surface.

joy_joy_007- If you don't make 500 I will enforce the follow on so there's no need to check.
