How much cricket will we see the next five days?

Whos idea was it to schedule this match in manchester in september.....guess what? Its raining.

Suprised to see Woakes dropped for Chris Overton

Extra bounce? Surprises me as well especially given the fact that overton has had NO red ball cricket for six weeks!

The selection criteria are absolutely baffling and flawed. Overton replaces Woakes who has bowled okay, but overton has played no redball cricket whereas Woakes has and we have Roy who has failed utterly moved out of position by someone else who has generally failed miserably.

Root says Overton has been picked because of his extra bounce. He got rid of Smith in Australia clean bowled so that's probably why.

Is Woakes not injured?

Definitely not fully fit, he wasn’t bowling well and didn’t bowl a lot of overs either given how much Stokes and Archer have over the last two tests.

If the pitch is going to be quite bouncy in nature, makes perfect sense that Starc is back for Australia.

Starc, Hazlewood and Cummins on such a pitch might just seal the deal for the Aussies.

Starc had a good game against Derbyshire,so I'd expect him to play. This is what Root said.
At this ground, I think it does perform slightly differently, that extra bit of bounce, a taller bowler is a slightly different option to go to and I feel like that balances out our attack really well in these conditions," Root told reporters.

Absolutely baffling decision... I’m sorry but how has woakes been dropped but not Roy? And Craig Overton. Ridiculous.
Woakes playing for Warwickshire didn’t help his cause...

Woakes has either been injured, or Root doesn't rate him or both. But he's been very under-bowled throughout the series. In that context it's not particularly baffling, although his replacement by Overton and the Denly/Roy switch are odd.

Our selectors act too much like supporters at times for me. Aye winning the last test was incredible and exciting, but to not change a batting line up which has underperformed all series, including a capitulation to 67 all out, is just madness. But aye, replace on of the bowlers. That'll do
