The "must be fixed" thread

Must have is an good AI and realistic bowling, batting styles.

When bowler starts his first spell in a match, then show career stats for current mode (e.g. test, ODI or T20)

However every time bowler subsequently bowls in that match, show the bowlers match stats, & not career stats like in IC10

I did a huge list for the game that was being developed by Big Ant, but hopefully as this is being over-seen by Codemasters, the game will actually be released this time:

-Better AI logic in the field. I remember in IC2010 there would always be a gap at cover in a default field, and i'd be able to hit 20-30 boundaries through there before they'd plug the gap.

-Shot selection. I saw yorkers being hooked on the back foot for six!?!?

-Short balls actually need to come up around head height and at pace. Short balls from fast bowlers like Brett Lee would just sit up and be begged to be hit.

-Wicket-Keepers are too athletic when standing up to spinners. I've had keepers take worldies of catches behind the stumps where they've dived and caught it as if they were standing back. No keeper has good enough reactions to do that!

-Wicket-Keepers are too slow to stump batsmen. As a keeper myself, I can tell you that as soon as a batsmen goes down the track, i'm looking for him to miss the ball and if he does, I whip the bails off immediately. On IC10, the keepers catch the ball, then wait for a second before ultimately being too late to stump him.

-Run-Outs. Simply were not present in IC10, yet happen too frequently in AC09. Somewhere inbetween the two is needed.

-Licenses. I do believe EA's licenses for the international teams has run out/is running out soon. These need to be grabbed as EA have done nothing with them for a long time.

-Occasional byes being let through. On both AC09 and IC10 I could go through an entire 5-match test series without a single bye being let past from EITHER keeper!

-Some better commentary. On a morning of a test match, i've heard Ian Bishop tell me the same story 2 or 3 times!

Now the next lot are suggestions that aren't hugely needed, but would be a nice addition:

-Ability to edit my created players face and also squad number. In IC10 you basically got a set number of faces to choose from and you were always given the number 00. It would be nice to have more control of facial features and have an ability to asign a better squad number.

-Ability for wicket-keeper to stand-up to medium pacers. It would be good if this was part of the field editor. And obviously this comes with risks of byes being let through.

I'm sure theres some i've missed out, but thats a starting list anyway!

A Simple suggestion for Chief. Watch some old matches (all types t20, tests, odi) and try to bring all the exciting things u see their to the game along with the broadcasting style of channels. Good Luck. :)

Something at the back of my mind is saying front foot drives as well. I ended up eschewing them almost entirely as caught and bowled was so likely even with perfect timing.

I'd say it might be worth getting rid of "caught and bowled"s. The way it was in previous games, I cut out the straight drive completely.

...the bowlers in the Codemasters-era did seem to have impeccable timing when it came to stopping anything remotely close to them.

Bounce of ball off the pitch
We all know there are only so many animations possible in game, but IC10 alters the trajectory of the ball too much off the pitch to ensure contact with the ball if shot timed well

This is why it looks weird when AI plays forward defensive to a bouncer and ball keeps low ensuring contact with ball, or hooks a full length ball and ball rises up to meet bat etc

2 things need to happen

For human - if you play the above shots to the length of delivery described, you miss the ball every time- regardless of your timing (this is assuming manual footwork)

For AI and automatic footwork for human batting, then a more sensible shot should be selected for line & length of delivery bowled. If AI batsmans judgement stat is low, then more likely to play shot not suited to situation, but if too inappropriate then again the ball is missed regardless of timing

I think that the way it worked in BLIC2005 where a batsman would get hit on the body due to an incorrect footwork was a brilliant system that just needed some more bug fixing. It would work so well and realistically.

The things I've bolded are things which I think are important and the things in red are things which I think are NOT important because they are minor to gameplay experience. Let me know if you agree.

I think run outs are important to gameplay experience, otherwise after you have bowled the ball, other than trying to catch batsman out, there is nothing for you to do fielding wise

Bowl speed should be taken from C07 , that game on fast mode had realistic bowling speed.

Or at least have the option of setting relative bowling speeds and not just adjust the batting timing window to make it harder to play.....

Run-outs are pretty important, and needs to be expanded upon a little more I think... Also the AI field in general being a little more proactive in placing fielders to stop your "scoring areas" a bit better (and therefore, the keeper standing up becomes a bit more important as well). I envisage the AI being able to place fielders if you're consistently playing unorthodox shots to score runs (Kind of like what happens in a test often with fielders being placed in the "eyeline" of the batsmen next to the non-striker)

The rest I agree with. But the AI definitely needs to be more reactive to the user in regards to fielding and keeping.

It would be good to see realistic misses other than leaving the ball. Genuine misses where Batsman played the wrong shot for the ball. Ball beating the bat is a regular sight in real cricket.

I wanna see a career mode, not even one cricket game got a career mode.
also I wanna see a more better commentary because its too boring.
I also want better sounds when the ball hit the bat :).
Try to get licence of all teams, EA are useless and not even using it.

Have actual swing and seam bowling not just merely cosmetic as AC09 and IC10 had where even if you bowl out swing and batsmen plays leg glance the ball some how get adjusted so that it can meet the bat and proper animation could get triggered . Just have a look BLIC 07 swing/seam system and then build it from there (surely it wasn't perfect but seriously was more fun than AC09 and IC10 bowling system)
