Indian Premier League Kicks off In Chennai

The Indian Premier League season IV successfully kicked off at M.A.Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. It all started off with the league declaration, where each and every captain signed on the captains board. MS Dhoni, the local franchisee captain started the signing formalities, which was followed in alphabetical order of teams. Last to come was Virat Kohli, the RCB skipper. Shashank Manohar, the BCCI president successfully declared the league open, when fireworks went off. It was followed by few performances, which included KKR Franchisee owner, Shahrukh Khans performance along with Shreya Saran for South Indian beats. The M.A. Chidambaram was on fire cheering when they witnessed King Khan dance for the local hits like "Apadi-pode and Ringa Ringa".

It was followed by a low scoring opening T20 encounter between Kolkata Knight Riders and the hosts, Chennai Super Kings. Kolkata Knight Riders, winning the toss and choosing to bat first, failed in the first 15 overs. Jacques Kallis, who was representing Kolkata this season, batted pretty slowly. On the other end, Bisla came up with a deserved half century, off 54 balls. Both the batsmen got out and eventually Gautam Gambhir, the costliest player came up with 15(11) and the Netherlands Hero Tendo came up with a 6 (8), which helped them in scoring 115 in 20 overs. Tim Southee was the economical one, giving just 11 runs in four overs and claiming the wicket of the half centurion, Bisla. Styris and Ashwin bowled well, giving 14 and 22 respectively off they 4 overs.

Not even run a ball almost confirmed Chennai's Victory. Srikkanth Anurudha played a calm cricket whereas Murali Vijay came up with a 42 (32). Hitting two big sixes and trying for another one over deep square leg by sweeping, he misjudged the balls turn and got into the trap of Yusuf Pathan! It was a plumb infront of wicket. With the required rate being less than 4, Suresh Raina started taking chances, which din't let him pay off! He played an aggressive 21(17), which included a four and a six. Anirudha, on the other end scored 45 off 50 balls. Chennai Super Kings managed to reach the target in 16.2 overs with just one wicket fell. Laxmipathy Balaji, the local boy representing the away team was good with the ball. Although he din't pick up any wickets, his economy rate was pretty impressive. Yusuf Pathan was good with ball, giving just 20 off his four overs and having Murali Vijay's wicket to his name. Kallis turned out to be garbage, giving away 17 runs off his 8 balls.

I'm not sure if the presentation is simple intentionally or not but you might wanna use some fonts and colors which will improve the presentation. The writing was good, you explained about the opening ceremony quite well. :)

Knight Riders should have done better than that, with 8 wickets in hand they should have reached to a better total. A good chase from Super kings though, good start for them in IPL season 4.

As said earlier, I'll concentrate more or writing and keep the presentation very simple.

And yeah, it its intentionally kept simple. I can go for big big graphics at this moment, but can't assure the consistency with them as the story progresses. So, kept the things simple so that consistency can be shown :). Of course, you can question me as the font/color settings doesn't have nothing to do with graphic stuffs and consistency can be maintained easily. I'm fed up of all those 's and 's, and am trying to be simple. Just to differentiate the heading from the body, I'm using the BB code over there :).

----------

PS: from next non RCB match on, I'll be posting just the scores with the heading "Around the Grounds" so that the main storyline (Journey of RCB) is not getting diluted with the domination of new storyline IPL :).

Everyone has a different presentation style and I've no complaints if you want to keep the presentation simple. I was just not sure that is the presentation kept simple by intention or not. Cheers! :)

First Innings:
Brendon McCullum, the one who troubled Bangalore on April 1th, 2008 in the opening IPL match between RCB and KKR, din't dare to repeat that as Zaheer Khan took the revenge for his team against Brendon McCullum, who scored 158* for KKR in season one. Brendon McCullum managed to score just 8(6) deliveries, which included a boundary. Kedar Jadhav din't last either as he departed for a low score of 3 runs, in 5 deliveries. Kochi were in deep trouble, losing two quick wickets right in the second over, although they looked on top after first over. Jayawardena, the skipper of Kochi batted steadily along with Brad Hodge and took care that they din't lose anymore wicket. Basically, they managed to establish themselves, after which Jayawardena reached his personal half century. Brad Hodge wasn't given much of strike, but he blasted whenever he got chance. In the nineteenth over, Jayawardena hit couple of huge ones, and Brad Hodge spoiled the beautiful economical figures of Daniel Vettori by hitting a huge one out of stadium and a four in the last over. They managed to reach a formidable total of 139-2 in their 20 overs. Royal Challengers Skipper Virat Kohli experimented by bringing on newbies like Asad Pathan and Mayank Agarwal. But he did a big time experiment by giving the 19th over to Asad Pathan, where he leaked 18 runs, unlike how he bowled his first. Royal Challengers Bangalore need 140 runs to win from 120 balls at 7 runs per over.

Second Innings:
With 140 to chase from 20 overs, the RCB openers Mayank Agarwal and Tillekaratne Dilshan walked into the field. They gave a brisk start to RCB, which ensured an RCB win. Dilshan started dealing with boundaries in 3rd over, where he hit three boundaries in a row off Local Hero "Santhakumaran Sreesanth". Mayank started scoring at a brisk rate, trying to get register his name as an specialized opening batsman in hearts of many cricket fans, as it was his IPL debut and very few knew him before this day. Raiphi Gomez went on to leak the runs, but finally managed to get the most important breakthrough, but a bit late. He managed to remove Mayank Agarwal, who was looking to finish the things off, when he was on his personal score of 45 (40). Ranganath Vinay Kumar and R.P. Singh bowled pretty economical but those economical spells went in vain. Although Jadeja turned out to be absolute garbage, he managed to remove Dilshan just after his half century. Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers played sensible cricket and managed to pull the game off without anymore loss of wicket in the 19th over. They respected the good ones and trashed the poor balls. The Kochi bowling was just equal to garbage, exception RP Singh and R Vinay Kumar. Royal Challengers Bangalore win the match by 8 wickets with 8 balls to spare.

Brilliant presentation, simple and neat.

Good win for RCB there, Dilshan played well and so did Zaheer. Kochi had absolutely no chance to return back in the game after that opening partnership between Dilshan and Agarwal.

Why didn't Laxman play for the Tuskers?

Good to see Dilshan in form there. Good start for RCB! KIU! Yes, where is VVS?

A good start to RCB's 2011 IPL campaign. Tuskers should have done better than that, with 8 wickets in hand they should have gone for some big shots in the last few overs. Nonetheless, a good win for RCB.

Good work on that quote-unquote. The presentation is simple and as you mentioned earlier you will concentrate more on writing and less on writing. So, the writing is quite good. Nice work so far, Binnu.

We've to Continue our Winning Momentum- Kohli.

Virat Kohli, the skipper of Royal Challengers Bangalore spoke to media after reaching Mysore for their first home game. They are to face the lethal Malinga Indians literallly cause it was Malinga, who won the game (which would have been a certain lose) for Mumbai in their first encounter against Delhi. Both the sides are trying to avoid their first defeat in their IPL IV campaign. Bangalore kick started their campaign with an easy win whereas Mumbai have worked hard for their first victory.

"We're now to have a big test in our home ground. We're on strong decision to have our second victory over Mumbai Indians, which'll set our direction in this tournament. Dilshan is bit injured, he will miss the match against Mumbai. We're unsure on whom to select, whether to choose Rilee Rossouw or go with some other replacement stuff, which will depend on how the pitch is." Kohli said.

As Meet said, Bro the presentation is simple and quite effectively good :)

Hope to see RCB win all the matches except the ones against the MI :)

Good writing again. Kohli looks very determined as a Captain!
Quote-Unquote, Around The Grounds, etc make this story look innovative. Looking for more of those.

BTW can I have the Match 7 Scorecard? That one looks really interesting! :D
