Transmission Closes Down

[sarcasm]I apologise. Next time I'll join you in showing how happy I am that a group of people have lost their jobs through no fault of their own. In fact, I'll throw a party and I'll invite you round, we'll have a great time! :banana2[/sarcasm]

What makes you think that he understands HTML or XML ?

The most sensible post thus far, yes the game was/is a pile of arcadey bs,its not a realistic simulation just a slog fest, and all you people worrying about poor Rob...like he is poor he will probably have another job lined up, he couldn`t care less about us customers, spending our hard earnt cash on a sub standard game believe me.

We have all been ripped off, just accept it and move on.

Er.........no I wont believe you. Thanks. I enjoy this game and continue to do so and also have no problems with the way in which I have spent my money. I guess opinions differ. And I actually do empathise with anyone who has lost his job, whomever they should be.

I completely agree with Matt. People shouldn't comment on TG. They have done their job and they did it excellently.

A great loss to the world of cricket gaming. The thing is that the codenamed Cricket 2010 may be still there.

Codemasters own the IP, while it would be less than ideal, it would be possible to get another developer to pick up where they left off. Though there is of course the possibility that many of the ex-Transmission employees could form their own company, I *think* that something similar happened with the IR Gurus to Transmission change.

By all means comment, but the problems that caused the collapse of the company have nothing whatsoever to do with Ashes Cricket 09.

Codies won't take risk for C2010 until they are sure that the game will be like the one made by TG otherwise they may suffer big loss like EA.

I heard somewhere that they were working on a game on some movie and in that some deal was not accepted.

Something like that :p

Very True. There is no doubt in my mind that the success or failure of AC09 had anything to do with the closure of Transmission games.

The responsibility of providing us with a decent gaming experience ( Online & Offline ) lies with Codemasters & not with Transmission . All the money & proceeds generated from the sales of this game go to Codies . Transmission were already paid in full for developing the game ( correct me if im wrong here ) as they were under a contract to develop the game for Codemasters.

What could have lead to closure would have to be something like rising costs, paucity of future projects to work on & lack of financial credit .

In this industry the closure of a studio has nothing to do with the capabilities or worthiness of a developer, animator, modeler, rigger etc. It is my firm belief that the talented people at Transmission will find better places to join in and shall continue to come up with great games & other animated vistas. Best of luck to everybody in the Transmission Games Family :)

BTW, I wonder what sort of game development work was outsourced to FX Labs India ?

There is no real choice, they have the Ashes licence, whether they either churn out a roster update or a genuine improvement on 09, they will surely release something.

Yes:
The developer has endured considerable financial trouble for some time and was forced to lay off more than 20 staff at the beginning of the month, when a potential deal with LucsasArts - for a tie-in to forthcoming film Red Tails - fell through.

Previous to this, the studio ran into trouble with publisher Red Mile for Heroes over Europe, although the company gained some breathing space when the title was later publisher by Ubisoft. Unfortunately it ended up being released at the same time as surprise hit IL-2 Sturmovik and gained little commercial or critical success as a result.
Transmission Games closes doors - report // News

The thing is im gratefull for the hard work theyve done and im sorry for all the guys at TG i really am but if the patch isnt released for us console owners then in my eyes its seen as a fail as i cant play the game with these bugs its unplayable.

Why is it so hard for someone to come out and say weather or nor the patch is going to be released?

Why is this game so rubbish? Hey i know because it was made by a bunch of guys who haven't got a scooby doo about cricket!

1. Test match slogging!?!?!?!
2. Mind-numbing commentry from 4 years ago!
3. Unrealistic run-rates!
4. Hit every ball for a boundary! (easy, normal and hard)
5. Boring online play!
6. Promised patch...no patch.

The door is wide open now for EA to come in a make a better game.

I did think that even you might show some class and keep your mouth shut for a few days seeing as everyone at Transmission just lost their job but no instead you're demanding information from them as they clear their desks.
Of course Codemasters will want a patch that was nearly finished to be released but it isn't that simple. I would imagine there is some furious behind the scenes negotiating going on to try and get this done. If it doesn't happen then it doesn't happen.
All you sound like to me at the moment is a spoilt child.

EA? Make a better game than this? Funny joke, that. :D

People need to show a little bit of respect at this time, some of you cannot understand how hard this must be for the guys at TG. A friend of mine lost his job earlier this year, the torment he went through the weeks after losing his job was unbearable, we are taking about people's livelihoods and this type of thing has a massive mental affect on the people involved and their families.

All of this considered the release of the patch or not pales into insignificance for me.

I agree with this, i havent spoke about it in a few days as i do have repect and feel sorry for everyone at TG who has lost there jobs as they have made a real great effort. But now someone has to come and speak out we have all stopped ourselves from selling this game as we were sure a patch was coming and i want answers now we have a right to know. And the pc guys are in a great position, they have a beta, we console guys have nothing and may not get anything which is unfair a patch has to be released sure cmon guys.

I do however disagree on the ea part, ea make a better game?? in another lifetime maybe.:facepalm

I wouldnt say hes a spoilt child.i personaly have kept quiet as i am annoyed about what has happened at TG as they made a great effort and have great potential and i feel so sorry for them all, but im sure some kind of gaming company will snap them up quick time as there friendly and great guys. Weve paid good money for this game and on my 360 its unplayable and well its okay for you to say "if it doesent happen it doesent happen" i thought that was a bit of a stupid thing to say, dont take this personally tho please i like sharing my thoughts with you and others in this forum this is just my opinion and not that i dont have repect, well i do i have explained, but i think you would be more worried and wouldnt have said this if you werent sitting cosy in your chair with two great betas as we on the other hand have nothing and anywayz what you said is not acceptable, we have to get a patch surely.

You paid for a game not a patch. Expecting a company who have gone into receivership to still work on producing a patch is asking a bit much.

I would like to think that I would still put people first regardless of whether I had the patch or not. No doubt if the roles were reversed you would be complaining that you can't play online using the beta.
There is no "surely" in this. We'd all like for there to be a patch but these are circumstances beyond your control, beyond my control and beyond even Darkboyblunder's control.
