Transmission Closes Down

I am sure no matter who asks, they will get the generic corporate reply. I highly doubt anyone on here has access to the real information of what is going on and the few that do are most definitely not at liberty to disclose it .

thats funny, i thought admin did

If they did they most definitly would not come and disclose it to the public. I am sure that as soon as anyone has any real information it will be posted here ASAP. Thats why its a bit pointless to keep asking if anyone knows anything.

If we assume the worst, and the patch is never released, then what can we work with the Open Beta 2, which many would say is the best we have as far as online play is concerned?

Can PC get the 'source code' or the application that ran the development server for open beta 2 from TG (surely someone would still have it?), and one can run it on their own spare computer (since the games aren't hosted on the server it won't take THAT much bandwidth). Prehaps we can have a user fee of $1.50 USD/month which would take care of server costs if it really comes down to that?

Just a thought.

Obviously, assuming the worst means console users are S.O.L..

All those impatient boys and girls should wait till the end of November; if it is not released then you can all start writing your complaints to Codemaster.

Hi Giggs11 when you get a refund, or get a swap for a PC version can you let me know? It will save me embarrassment if you have already washed down by Codemasters! lol. I am never heard of a refund or an exchange because a patch is not released.

So a run out bug so bad that 8 out of 10 wickets in an innings can be runouts and a spinner glitch that actually makes it more difficult not to take a wicket just to name 2 of the major problems in this game is rubbish is it??

To clarify the OFFTOPIC part of my earlier post, every cricket game I've played (have owned every console version since SNES, then PS1, PS2, PS3) has had flaws, and easy ways to exploit the computer AI (whether batting or bowling).

Maybe this game has a few new ones (excessive runouts), and other specifics... but every game has been soft in the offline department and had it's own faults and I have found it easy to 'beat' the AI.

Another area of comparison is with the spinner glitch, this is in in every cricket game I've played for most part, the only difference being the way the wicket falls. It used to be more LBW than the extreme one you get in AC09 (playing cover shot to get bowled around the legs), and the area you used to have to pitch the ball varied alot more depending n conditions... but once you found it, it was game over.

With the runout issue, again I've noticed a similar thing in almost every cricket game, especially ones that have allowed the use of manual fielding... I used to simply press left or right on the joystick depending on where shot was played relative to the fielder in that area and which side I thought the ball was going, and computer AI still ran as if ball went by the fielder so I got easy run outs. So to me, it's just another version of that... bowl in right spot for where a player has been playing shots, have fielder with good arm nearby = runout... just automatic now instead of me doing it. The trade off for losing manual fielding in this game is the mini-catching game (which I love).

So anyway I stand by my comment... and also willing to agree with people who say it has problems, but not so far as that it's broken and should never have seen light of day (to the effect).

The biggest issue I see is maybe expectation that with advances in hardware (eg. next generation console) we expect similar advances in the games produced. My analogy (man I hate analogies though) would be just because they build a machine to build a car faster, does it mean that automatically it's going to make better cars :/

So in summary, I will respect you if you found the bugs/easy wickets a problem and won't play the game anymore.... but to make blanket statements that the game is unplayable and is broken and should not have been released is just as silly as me claiming the game is perfect and anyone complaining about it should be shot!

PS: I quoted you cooks1st100 just to make my point (and reflective of another post further down).... none of this is talking about you personally, more about the theme of some of the posts I have been reading recently (and in the past lol) - you just happened to be first to quote me :)

:laugh
lol.. some of the posts above are so hilarious..##Being part of Ashes 09 forum is more fun than playing the game.. haha..

I think.. with so many gentlemen in this forum, we can never really get a proper gentlemen's game, and would have to let this happen again, as it happened last time with BLIC07. Yes I purchased that trash too.. and pledged never to waste my money on cheaply done cricket games, that end up insulting the sport.

I still do secretely hope that a patch could correct some glaring issues, and I could have lotta fun with the game too.

(Hmarka's Man-Hug, Captain OZ's list of importance lol.. and BarmyArmy's 'you've paid for game & not for patch', all tickle your funny bone) (although the last one tickles more than a funny bone)

You are right in many ways but I am glad that this game was released. I respect you comments but you can never simulate the actual cricket game. The actual cricket game is a very time consuming game, a test match goes for 5 days, do you really want so much reality in a game? Is this game marketed as a cricket simulation or arcade fun? Offlines this game has huge issues perhaps you are right that it should have never been released but once you play online against a decent opponent who won't bore you with yorkers and wides it can be really good fun.

To be honest I had more fun with this game than any other cricket games. I only play online. I just played an hour or two playing offline at the start and that was the end of it.

@ Punjabi - For all it's flaws I do love the game, my post was actually intended to stick up for it a bit, I have no regrets purchasing or investing my time in it.... and I do ;)

Majority don't play just one game. That will make it so boring, everybody will be complaining about how smart the CPU AI is!

I think the main problem was that the offline game was designed very poorly or they had really bad beta testers with no knoweldge of good length and role and effectiveness of spinners etc. They should have got some cricket addicts like me from these forums and turn into a great game.

I am really suprised that even though Transmission is going to be no longer patching it up that in our planetcricket community there is not any good game programmers out there to fix the bugs for PC verison. It should not be all that difficult to fix the flaws in the game.

Maybe not but it was marketed as Ashes Cricket was it not? And last time I watched the Ashes, it was test cricket being played between the two teams and I didn't see any test lasting just two days!!!

You are going off topic my friend with the 2 days thing, but yes the game certainly needs more cricket and less baseball. It plays in extremes.

I do want more realism in the cricket game, but with its arcady gamestyle too, its full of glitches. I dont want patch to enhance the graphics, make Harbhajan look more like Harbhajan but atleast get some meaning to gameplay.

Just for socialising online, I haven't purchased the game. Even the online play, is more inclined to who can exploit (use as many cheats as possible), which is no worse than quitting games.

I was pointing out to punjabi about his comment that the majority of people don't just play one game, that the game was marketed as a test cricket game therefore the focus should have been on exactly that, yet this is one of the worst aspects of the game
