Indian team is incomplete without the Delhi Daredevils :(

Hope he recovers soon (he should before CT )

Who will open the inngs according to you along with Sachin? Virat K? If Dravid is in playing 11,he will come at his No3 spot.

No Sehwag, no Gambhir. Hmm. Sachin and Dravid opening would be very interesting indeed.

I don't expect big things from India in this series. Typically we have always performed pretty poorly in season openers after coming off a break. The good thing is that this is some international cricket practice before the CT so hopefully we should be warmed up for that.

Sachin and Karthik opening is an unusual combo but its a forced one. Its a huge blow to have Gambhir not playing. But yeah, this series is essentially practice for the Champions trophy, so never mind. Hope Gambhir can come back for the Champions trophy.

Now the responsibility on Dravid increases manifold. His anchoring capabilities might be tested to the core. Knowing him, he has the capability to absorb the pressure and perform. He also seems to be in good nick (reports coming from the nets).

The first time I'm pessimistic about India's chances in a tournament. Our two best of the best openers will not play, our main strike bowler will not play...I can hardly see any light at the end of the tunnel. :noway IMO, Zaheer's absence will be the most felt one; the guy was in the form of his life and besides him, we don't have a single quality pacer in our team whatsoever. I don't call Ishant Sharma quality, and Zak is a class apart from the others. We will give a fight no doubt, but to be honest, I don't have any high hopes.

IMO, we still have the best team in this competition.

Tendulkar opening the innings, the greatest ODI batsman of all time. Dinesh Karthik in fine form as he showed in the Windies and is, as we all know, a very talented and capable player. Rahul Dravid in at number 3 to provide solidity and stability. Yuvraj and Dhoni in the middle order, the top two ranked batsman currently in ODI cricket. Raina and Yusuf Pathan in the lower order - a quick, graceful stroker of the ball meets a brute who likes to hit it out of the park. With the ball, RP Singh has showed class in the IPL and T20 Wc, Nehra is in pretty good form, Prabeen is a consistent line and length bowler suitable to SL conditions, and Ishant is quick and pacy. Add a Bhajji who's freshly coming off another tight slap, and it's a pretty word class team IMO.

Lol :D

IMO, you can't really call Ishant good for being quick and pacy. He's been off the radar recently and needs to learn to pitch it up. I remember watching the West Indies, he just kept bowling short ball after short and was consistently getting tonked by Gayle around the park. He doesn't seem to learn from his mistakes. However he did show some sort of improvement in the last game where he actually pitched the balled up and got Gayle. Hopefully that just wasn't a one off.

So newzeland won the toss and no suprise elected to abt first.:pTo be honest it won't be asy to chase a total under lights i hope india bowls well and get a early breakthrough.
