Anyone got that feeling we'll struggle to make 200 tonight. I know it's meant to be really difficult to bat second here but what's a decent first innings score here. Looking through the records 240+ hasn't been chased down too often.

I know it's only 15 overs in, but I do have to say from an unbiased point of view, this wicket is terrible. If players of a calibre of Sangakkara struggle you know there's something wrong.

His wicket is huge now. He'd spent a long time getting in and now a new batsman has to come out and we're into the inexperienced and weaker lower order.

Even if we bowl them out for 100, I wouldn't be confident about chasing it. Malinga could knock us over and some acurate bowling from the other pacemen. :S

Butler. Poor shot in the scheme of things. I didn't notice until now that Nathan McCullum's playing to, I really hope he goes well.

I'm worried for New Zealand chasing this, their batting isn't really that great.

McMillan to come out of International Retirement and replace Broom IMO, then it would be one of our best ODI teams ever.

Ryder (40)
McCullum (35 when opening)
Guptill (56)
Taylor (40)
Elliott (50)
Oram (28)

Doesn't look too bad to me.

The ball is holding up so much on this pitch. Sangakkara could've played that stroke twice for that delivery it was so slow coming off the pitch at nearly 130ks. Its just way too slow for one day cricket.

Time for the lower middle order to step up. Am not too sure about Samaraweera here so many dots. 180-200 should be a godsend at this point.

I just don't think it'll be easy, even if it is a low score chase.

Not really as good as Sri Lanka's though

Ryder and McCullum > Dilshan and Jayasuriya
Guptill and Taylor > Jayawardene and Sanga
Elliott and Oram > Sama and Matthews

Might be a tad biased on the Guptill-Taylor comparasion but meh. Jayawardene has never been a "fantastic' one day batsmen.

Not disagreeing with you at all there. NZ quite often have a good old fashion English collapse.

Joking right? Sri Lanka's one day batting is woeful at the moment. Sangakara there best batsman only averages 36.

Yeah the batting is pretty awful but when you say 'only' its not really reflective. Keep in mind thats an average of 36 over 240 ODIs. If any of those guys in the top order for NZ manage that over 200 games kudos to that..

charith added 2 Minutes and 47 Seconds later...

Ryder and McCullum > Dilshan and Jayasuriya
Guptill and Taylor > Jayawardene and Sanga
Elliott and Oram > Sama and Matthews

Dilshan's been pretty hot recently he was due for a failure. Jayasuriya yes is terrible and should be dropped imo. Hold your horses cant make that second comparison yet not by a long shot. maybe in a few years. Agreed with the last one.
