Cricketman93 is a big Dinesh Karthik fan and would not want Sehwag to replace him as test opener presumably.

Poor chap got thrown out only beacuse of one poor test agaisn the Australians at home.

...and an average of 23.00 after 19 innings. Chopra was never good enough in his previous stint. He could not convert hard-worked starts into big scores and you need that in an opener. He has a whole season to prove himself for Delhi, his future is in his own hands.

Sehwag should partner Gambhir in Australia.Afterall teh chemistry between these two is pretty good seeing as both were ex-Delhi openers.

I thought Sehwag played in the middle order for Delhi with Chopra and Gambhir opening.

Totally agree with the first statement, Jaffer is born to be average and average around 35 by scoring 0, 0, 100, 0, 0, 100, we need great openers to be successful in tests. Look at Australia, Hayden and Langer are among the all time great opening partnerships and Australia are world beaters. In Ashes 2005, England had an extremely in form Strauss and Trescothick.

Thats what is needed against a team like Australia.The last time round,Indai had good openeing partnerships and every one contributed.
But,it is eventually the openers who are responsible for laying the platform.
ThaTs why we need proepr openers and not make-shift ones like Dinesh Karthik[who is a very good bat,but pls dont make him an opener].

I refuse to believe that you can drop someone after they top score for the country in a 3 match test series where none of the games were washed out.

I just don't understand why we should try and fix something that isn't broken. The opening partnership between Karthik and Jaffer has been superb, so why take one of them out?

The partnership was carried by Karthik's 263 runs at 43.83. Jaffer by comparison only hit 185 runs at 30.83. I believe Karthik has what it takes to open for India in test matches for a long time but that Jaffer is not who his partner should be.
