this time, you might see big scores from the cpu also.. if you are following m_vaughan's England International Season thread, I am using the same patch for this series and for him, the cpu is making scores of around 300-325! Lets see how this goes. So far, the cpu is 2-0 ahead of him in a 7 match series. So, this is going to be the hardest challenge for me. To win against Sri Lanka.
Welcome all to the live telecast of the first Coca Cola ODI Series between India and Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens, Kolkatta. Its a bright and sunny day at Kolkatta with temperatures touching a high of 34*C. Ravi Shastri is down with the pitch report. Lets see what he has to say
Shastri: This wicket looks Hard and true and is a very good batting surface. Even a total of 300 might not look safe on this wicket. But since this is a Day/Night affair, the side batting first holds the advantage if it sets up a score of 290+. The wicket might deteoriate a bit as the match progresses but not by much. Another batting feast is on the cards.
Greg Chappell is out there with the two captains, Ganguly and Atapattu. Ganguly tosses the coin, Atapattu calls Heads, but tails it is!!
G Chappell: So Saurav, whats your call?
Saurav: We would have a bat first. This is a very good batting wicket and we would like to make the most out of it! The ball might hav some swing in the air during the night and so, we would not like to take any chances
G Chappell: Any changes in your squad?
Saurav: Pathan comes back to the team after his side strain that he suffered during the last ODI against Pakistan!
G Chappell; Well Marvan, disappointed with the toss?
Atapattu: Not much. It depends on the luck of the person. We can chase well under lights and we have showed that before. We have some exciting players like Sngakkara, Jayasuriya, Jayawardena, Dilshan, etc and this should be an exciting game. And India also are coming from a gruelling ODI series against Pakistan. So, they must be a bit tired.
G Chappell: Hows ur squad?
Atapattu: We are going in with Fernando, Vaas and Zoysa as the pacemen. Murali and Chandana will be the spinners with Dilshan and Jayasuriya as back up spinners.
G Chappell: Good luck gentleman. So the news from the Eden Gardens is that Ganguly has won the toss and decided to bat first! Back to the commentator's box.
India have overcome the loss of Sehwag early to post up 28/1 after 6 overs. Sehwag was out to a cracker of a delivery from Dilhara Fernando which after pitching reared up and Sehwag tried to play a backfoot drive but the ball kissed the edge and Sangakkara behind the stumps pouched it gleefully. Sehwag was out for 2. But Ganguly and Tendulkar have got down and are rotating the strike well and are scoring some boundaries off the odd loose balls!
Note: Again, I am playing with Ravi's ODI patch and will play with it for the whole ODI series against Sri Lanka until Tutsi's next full version comes out! I have tweaked Ravi's patch a bit to suit my preferrence and make it harder for the human!
India are in a very strong position at the end of 15 overs, having scored 114/1.
Manjrekar: Thats a brilliant start by India. They have scored at over 7 runs per over. Sachin Tendulkar has scored a brilliant and a very quick half century off just 39 balls to guide India to 114/1 after 15 overs.
Gavaskar: Yes. And Ganguly at the other hand is supporting him very well. The Sri Lankans havent bowled badly but the Indians have batted exceedingly well so far. They have totally overcome the early loss of Sehwag.
Video Clip of Sehwag's wicket
Manjrekar: Yes Sir. And the shot of the innings has to go to Tendulkar. Vaas bowled a ball full and on Tendulkar's legs, Tendulkar just swept the ball and the ball sped like a rocket to the fence and that put Vaas in utter astonishment!
India in a great position and really look set for a 300+ total! The spinners of Sri Lanka might be on soon and that would be a real test for the Indian batsman and their total totally hinges on Chandana and Murali. If they are able to tackle the spinners even fairly well, 300 is a certain possibility
Manjrekar: Let me take this opportunity to wish all our Indian viewers a Belated Happy Holi. The festive atmosphere is right now prevailing in the crowd with the crowd beating drums and blowing trumphets.
Gavaskar: Yeah. Belated wishes for one of the most colorful festivals that is celebrated in India. Do you know the importance of Holi and why it is celebrated Sanju?
Manjrekar: Plz enlighten me and the viewers Sunny!
Gavaskar: Sure. This is celebrated on March 25th because according to the Indian history, it was on this day that a demon Holika tried to burn the child of her brother, a demon king. She sat with the child on her lap, into the blazing fire but she got burnt to ashes whearas the child remained unscathed. There are lots of other reasons too but this one is more known among the people!
Manjrekar: Ohh.. Thanks for explaining that Sunny. People spray colors on each other on this day to celebrate this festival.
SACHIN OUT FOR 63 - INDIA 142/2 (20 OVERS)
Sachin Tendulkar is bowled by Chaminda Vaas for 63 and India are now 142/2 after 20 overs. Vaas bowled a full delivery and Tendulkar tried to straight drive it but missed it to be bowled for 63. Kaif is out there with Ganguly who is nearing his 50.
India have really consolidated their position at the end of 25 overs. They are 183/3 after 25 overs and still are scoring at 7 runs per over. Ganguly is not out on 55* and Dravid is accompanying him on 0*. Kaif was out for 22 when he tried a stupid sweep to a Dilshan delivery that was short of a good length and missed it to be LBW.
Manjrekar: Well, India waltzing along at 7 runs per over. At this rate, a total of 350+ is certainly possible.
Ranatunga: I agree. They are scoring really quick. I cant understand why Dilshan is bowled ahead of Murali and Chandana. Sri Lanka is messing it all up by poor bowling and Sangakkara behind the wicket is also the culprit giving away easy runs.
Manjrekar: Good batting by Saurav ganguly. He has silenced his critics once again with a half century. He must now dig in and score a hundred!
I think this patch is not working at all for me. 7 runs per over still after 25 overs is not realistic at all. I am planning to switch to Tutsi Beta-5 after this game is over!
i got a suggestion sai for ur t.v graphics why not use liek espn or ten sport or dd sports or even dish graphics it makes it look better more like at home
i got a suggestion sai for ur t.v graphics why not use liek espn or ten sport or dd sports or even dish graphics it makes it look better more like at home
oh ok.. i will do it.. i will get the ten sports one..
ok guyz, i have decided to throw the current patch that i'm using. i am scoring at 8 runs per over without any slogs at all. so when the cpu bowls, to be fair to them, i will use this patch for their first 29 overs and then will revert back to tutsi beta-5 (Normal level).
Thilanga Dilshan strikes two huge blows for India removing Dravid and Yuvraj off two consecutive deliveries. Dravid showed an unusual frustration today and hit a ball high in the air and was caught and bowled by Dilshan. The next delivery, Dilshan came around the wicket and bowled into Yuvraj's pads and Yuvraj missed it to be LBW for 0. India 221/5. Ganguly not out on 92* off 95 balls
Another collapse for India - 266/8
India have collapsed again, this time to the guile of Dilshan and Chandana. Chandana was too tough to handle for the Indian batsman and one wonders why he was kept back till the 37th over by Atapattu. Chandana forced Ganguly to attack and Ganguly holed out. Next to go was Pathan off the very next ball as Chandana produced a ripping leg break that Pathan had no answer to. Then Harbhajan in a rush of blood clobbed the ball high to mid off to be out for 0. Dhoni is out there not out on 8* along with Kumble with 8 more overs remaining
What a brilliant performance by the Sri Lankan spinners? They have come back roaring into the match with a superb display of spin bowling on a flat track to bowl India out for 277. Considering the start that India had, this is certainly a huge downfall for them. After being 221/5 after 31 overs, they have been bowled out for 277 under 44 overs.
The main architect of this collapse was Upul Chandana with a fine spell of leg spin bowling picking up 4 wickets. T Dilshan bowled well picking up 3 wickets as the Indians had no clue to their spin attack. Sri Lanka now need 277 runs to win and they know it is perfectly attainable. An interesting match on the cards
Shifting to Ravi's ODI patch for the first 29 overs of the game!
The Champ said:
Well India or on their way to a big total, I reckon India to win
Totally unrealistic patch! Sri Lanka have reched 47/2 after 6 overs. Aviskha Gunawardena was out caught by Harbhajan Singh at square leg and Sanath Jayasuriya is run out for 17 when Atapattu almost scored a boundary but Pathan picked it just in front of the ropes and threw back to see Jayasuriya short of his ground.
Sri Lanka 93/3 after 15 overs!
India have stemmed the run flow of Sri Lanka quite impressively and have also picked up the soon becoming dangerous Marvan Atapattu for 28. Atapattu tried to drive a Tendulkar flipper on the backfoot but mistimed it and Harbhajan held on to the catch at mid on. India have already introduced 4 spinners into the attack now with Tendulkar the best of them with figures of 3-1-3-1 .Yuvraj 1-0-3-0 Harbhajan 3-0-19-0 Kumble 4-0-26-0
This match is again set up for an interesting finish. Stay tuned for score and important updates!
Well srilanks 3 down and now the balance has shifted towards India, common india,
As for ur thread buddy u will again dont worry, even though u think there is no interest, i think there is more interest and i dont want u to become discouraged like this buddy.
yeh sai keep going with it. the only reason it may not have had a huge amount is maybe because it doesnt have india v pakistan. i know as soon as the majority of people here see india v pakistan they are there. this will be big soon enough. i agree with the champ. but maybe a change of gameplay patch would be good. the tougher the better i think. good luck. im going for india this match 277 would be to hard to beat
