anything over 275 is tough on Kiwi conditions, its not our own backyard where the ball rarely climbs above knee high, so common sourav and boys restrict them to soething easily attainable
Nathan Astle is turning out to be the star performer for New Zealand as New Zealand are putting themselves into a very comfortable position to go for a big total in this match. Astle has scored 70* off 80 balls and is going great guns and is punishing the Indian bowlers all over the park. His shots carry the stamp of aggression and is wilting the Indian bowlers under his blade.
Scott Styris made an useful 16 before he was stumped by MS Dhoni off the bowling of Anil Kumble. Styris gave good support to Astle and played well until his impatience got the better of him.
Craig Mc Millan has joined Astle now and is starting to look dangerous for the Indian bowlers. India should remember that this game, even though a dead rubber for them, will play a very crucial part to their build up towards the final. And if they lose to New Zealand today, they not only allow New Zealand to enter the final but also give New Zealand a psychological edge going into the final! Whearas England are at a low and would prove to be a more easier opponent in the final!
FIRST CENTURY OF THE TOURNAMENT - NATHAN ASTLE Nathan Astle 100* (113) New Zealan 193/2 (36 overs)
Thats the first hundred of this tournament from Nathan Astle. A superb flick to square leg brought up the first century of the tournament and by the New Zealand opening batsman, Nathan Astle. He is receivng tremendous support from both Mc Millan and from the Indian bowlers who are not able to bowl a tight line to Astle and Mc Millan. Only Sehwag has been able to bowl a tight line and length to the NZ batsmen.
Mc Millan at the other end, started off slowly, but now is starting to hit great shots along the ground. They have put together a 50 run partnership and are looking very dangerous to help New Zealand post a very big total for India to chase!
Astle still is looking good and is raring to go. The New Zealand run rate right now is more than a healthy 5.4 per over. If Astle and Mc Millan are unbeaten till the 45th over, then New Zealand can easily look for a total beyond 270 and take a very firm control of this match and progress to the final against the same Indian team!

C Mc Millan 42
V.Sehwag 2/23
A double breakthrough from Virender Sehwag has tied down New Zealand to 229/4 after 46 overs with 3 more overs to go. Craig Mc Millan was dismissed to the most brilliant ever catch in the tournament so far from Virender Sehwag. Sehwag bowled a looping off spinner to Mc Millan. Mc Millan hit the ball straight down in the air towards Sehwag. Sehwag dived full length in the front to pick off one of the most outstanding catches of the tournament so far!
Watch the clip of Sehwag's wonderful catch!
Two balls later, Chris Cairns stepped down the wicket to smash Sehwag out of the attack but instead found himself being stumped to the pavilion by Mahendra Singh Dhoni behind the wicket. Cairns was out for a duck and India somewhat restored themselves back into the game!
