West Indian Tour of India, 2013: Sachin's 200th Test Appearance

But Dravid has won numerous matches for India. The reason is Dravid's Retirement was sudden soon after the Oz series. But Sachin's Retirement Was planned thats why there was no such ceremony:)

Rahul Dravid did have a very good farewell ceremony conducted by BCCI.

I do not want to write much as we all know how good a cricketer Sachin was except to tell you that I got a call from my sibling from London tonight to ask whether I watched the match or not? He informed me he and some other guys were charged 500 pounds fine for bursting crackers and making noise after Sachin's speech and he was not at all disappointed by that.

At the time of his wkt I can't stop my tears as well as when the speech was spoken.

I have not thought or imagined Cricket without SRT.

The speech was made early morning UK time so in all fairness you can't go around at the crack of dawn making noise and disturbing the peace.

?500 is a hefty fine but that's England for you.

So is this the end of Sachin playing cricket? Is he not playing in the next IPL like Dravid & Ganguly have done post retirement?

Here is the speech if anyone has missed it. He summarized his whole career in that 21 minutes speech. Absolutely brilliant stuff from Sachin.

Yes, he has retired from all forms of cricket. We might watch him play in some veterans' matches only now.

For a guy who has been feeling emotional everyday these two test matches have passed by, when the moment actually arrived, I was numb and blank. I have exhausted all my tears... But the speech that he gave was truly moving to the core. I probably will break down again when I watch that speech again. There were not many people in the crowd who held back their tears. It was a truly heart wrenching moment to see India's biggest cricketing superhero walk away into the sunset. Its not his records, its not his technique, its the MAN HIMSELF who has been the driving force for all this love and adulation that has been displayed. Even those who are very highly introverted have come out and spoke paens in praise of this man.

Blessed to be born in a generation where I witnessed his exploits. Thanks for all the memories Sachin! If spreading happiness is God, you are one.

+1.

Really blessed, gifted & fortunate to witness his glory in front of my own eyes for my last whole 20 years! Not definitely a end of cricket, but the man who started a 'cricket' feeling in me is SACHIN. I still remember that ton(127) against Kenya in 1996 which made me to start following him more closely!

Like he mentioned its going to be hard to miss that 'SACHIN!! SACHIN!!' electrifying chant from the ground!

Personally i would say although i'm more of Lara fan, its sort of disappointing that i only saw Tendulkar bat ONCE in my entire life near my home venue of Old Trafford.

That time was the 99 world cup super 6 clash between IND & PAK. Strangely on IND other tours to ENG in 2002, 2007, 2011, they didn't play at Old Trafford or the one time they did play (i think an ODI in 07) i was on vacation.

Would have been nice to see one of his 100+ internationals live, since i did get to see Lara score a few of his hundreds live.

Stop the comparisons! Its all over. Has`nt sunk in yet. Those who do not agree with the celebrations can stay away but just acknowledge the respect this man has for the great game. Touching the pitch in reverence while bidding goodbye, that is what cricket needs now. Men with respect for the game and you wont have to worry about the spirit of the game being broken. I feel immense sadness, a vast emptiness. SRT, thank you for making us love this game! Thank you, for all those lovely moments. His speech reiterates how much he loves and respects the game. Its a huge loss to the test match game.

Its just Kallis and Chanderpaul left now, and the era would officially be over.

ICC are confused all the front line off-spinners in the world bowl suspect to be frank when the bowl the doosra. Shillingford, Narine, Ashwin, Harbhajan, Ajmal (the worst), Hafeez, Sohag Gazi.

The only ones that are safe since they don't bowl the doosra are Swann, Lyon & Tredwell.

Ever since the ICC changed the rules in the late 90s to allow Murali to bowl without harassment, this issue with off-spinners and the doosra will never go away.

both have been banned before, and samuels had came under scrutiny in the IPL already this year. they are somewhat worse than the average case. ajmal's been tested too but came back fine.

I guess we'll see what testing brings back but should it be negative it's more evidence of how badly run the west indies are these days. they knew about these two, they knew they had failed tests before and they've let them slip back. that kinda thing can only happen if you have coaches who are either incompetent or don't care.

If i recall both Shillingford & Samuels when they were called were cleared after being tested. If they didn't they wouldn't be allowed to bowl the doosra anymore, like what happened to Johan Botha & we all know how ineffective he became after he wasn't able to bowl the doosra.

But as i said before like many notable commentators have mentioned all off-spinners who bowl the doosra chuck it, i am in the camp that doesn't believe its a delivery that can be bowled legally - although its certainly give offie's another dimension in a game that has rules that favours batsmen even more currently.

If the ICC changed the rules to allow Murali, then why call out respective off-spinners ever so often for bowling the doosra still?. They either ban the doosra or shut up really, since its one of the more nonsensical things in the world game currently.

both were definitely banned. shillingford's was reported during a sri lankan series, I think now the cricinfo article mentions it.

West Indies news: Shane Shillingford dropped from Windwards squad | West Indies Cricket News | ESPN Cricinfo

and it wasn't shillingfords doosra, it was his action, he only started bowling doosras in 2012, the ban was in 2010. his doosra is the reason he's reported now though. samuels is being investigated for his quicker delivery.

so it's not strictly a doosra problem at all, ajmal's testing apparently revealed his doosra wasn't the delivery that used the most flexion. so it's not quite as simple as saying the ICC should ignore doosras. I think it's something coaches should have been monitoring, but it just seems typical of the west indies these days not to manage their players correctly.
