West Indian Tour of India, 2013: Sachin's 200th Test Appearance

Aalay i never said Windies were more talented than IND. I simply said i think Windies talent was comparable. While IND have the better young batsmen (easily the best in the world, although some have to prove themselves overseas) i gave WI the edge in pace bowling options and spin.

Just a year ago Ojha/Ashwin could not trouble ENG & i'm not convinced they are more skilled than Narine/Shillingford.

I might agree with you on the pace bowling options but not on spin bowling. Shilingford is certainly talented and his current bowling and statistics does show that. Narine struggled against Bangladesh in the last test match that he played. He went wicketless in that match with a economy over 4. He has performed well in shorter version but he is yet to prove himself at the test level.

Ojha and Ashwin could not trouble England? Ojha was the highest wicket-taker in that series. Ashwin was 4th highest wicket-taker in that series. That was one of the best series Ojha had and except Cook, he troubled pretty much every single English batsman. This was not a good series for Ashwin because he tried bowling too many variations rather than sticking to the basics of off spin bowling. However, he still ended up with 14 wickets in the series. Ashwin has 100 wickets form 18 matches and this record is even better than Philander who had a dream start to his test match career.

So, I don't agree with your point that Shilingford/Narine is more skilled than Ashwin/Ojha.

nah, I'm just joshing with you, I think the windies need to do what india have done. out with the dead wood. Gayle is not going to perform for them at test level, neither is sammy. time to pull the plug. they have some decent players but they have a dire attitude these days.

so anyway, I will give you some return ammo for next summer. I am going to state that I think india will beat england when they tour next summer.

bookmark this post and I'll accept the consequences when it's 4-0 again. :/

I have no idea what you're trying to prove with this. I followed pretty much every single cricket match I could during those years, since I was in school and had a LOT of free time at hand.

Really? :clap That is the reason why you were digging more to find from statistics betwen ODI and Tests, because you have followed almost every match? Excellent, Great job.

No Offense, I personally followed every Indian match between 95-2000 including the crushing defeats, overseas misery, follow-ons, huge wins and I really don't have to see for the statistics to conclude the role on Tendulkar played to Indian team during those 90's era because I was able to feel it when I followed it. I need not rely on stats digging to say - "Oh yeah, that classy 150+ knock with Azhar in SA avoided a classy folllow-on, or who can forget that famous Chennai century againt Pakistan, or who can forget the lonely warrior in Aussie land when others were falling like pack of cards". These are just few straight away from mind. A person winning hearts of people is different from a person winning the stats column, many of us who wanted to see him batting again is because of the former.

I don't want to go too much into blah blah facts which are very obvious. Everyone knows cricket is a team game, none is going to deny it.

Am my friend India lost the series, one a few times they have lost @ home since the 70s. To do that the opposition batsmen had to counter the traditional difficult spin threat & ENG countered Ojha/Ashwin very well. Ojha took the most wickets but other than the 1st innings of the Ahmedabad test, ENG never looked clueless against him. Come the end of that series guys like Trott & Bell who had initially problems were scoring hundreds.

Since then they both bowled to poor AUS & Windies batting line-ups of spin - this would have particularly helped Ashwin to race to 100 wickets so fast.

Shillingford & Ashwin are very comparable as off-spinners IMO.

We need to see them bowl @ home to another strong visiting batting line-up to be sure they can continue to spin legacy dominance @ home that Kumble/Harbhajan did in the 90s/2000s or Bedi/Venkat/Bedi/Prassana/Chandrasekar did in the 60/70s/80s.

Yes we all know that Narine hasn't had the best start to his test career, but few people actually believe that means much. Throughout this series for example Sourav Ganguly, Lara, Shastri has been correctly stating his shock that the windies didn't play him in these tests, since its fairly obvious of his talent will translate his ODI/T20 form to test the more games he plays.

That was a brilliant gesture from Indian team. Good bye legend, you will be missed.

What a legend .. what a cricketer .. and most importantly, what a man

The interview with Mrs. Tendulkar was brilliant. Such a different view on Tendulkar. Loved her quote "I can image cricket without Sachin, but cannot imagine Sachin without cricket" .. just proves how much he loved what he did

I will really really miss him :(:(

Mumbai crowd booing the BCCI officials LOL - maybe not the right time, but LOL

Will miss you Sachin :(!!! Thankyou for all the good times you gave us!

Just could not control myself. I kept weeping all through the great man's speech. A level headed human, a super human cricketer, a great father and a true husband. Yet another brand image of cricket gone. Goodbye legend :(

Tears arent usually my thing - but I couldnt hold it in this time. 2 points - when he thanked Anjali, and Arjun and Sara. And when he thanked his fans. And finally when he touched the pitch and walked off it one last time. I wont be able to sleep tonight ..

I am still unmarried but i am always moved by the husband wife sentiment and when he said that line and when Anjalai mam shed a tear or two, oh god i could not resist it, i just cried. I was a person who felt Sachin should go by the end of the South Africa series but things happened and here came the short west indies series but i never knew i would become this emotional. I was always a Dravid lover more than anyone and everyone but this man with his speech and pitch walking in the end has made me realize that if i can love anyone just equal to Dravid it has to be Sachin. I thought Dravid was my life and breath and i still think so...but Sachin is in my blood. Dravid and Sachin! My life is in this! Add Ganguly and Laxman too.

Have to admit that tears were uncontrollable for me on seeing those last moments of him as a player, just wished I have a pause button in real life!

No words, we will miss you LITTLE master!

I am a bit imotional as my idol retired my tribute to him!! watch in full screen and enjoy if you like it subscribe on youtube and thank this post

SACHIN.....SACHIN...SACHIN :cheers

Rahul Dravid was a great cricketer but SRT is the Indian pride and GOC of India.

But Dravid has won numerous matches for India. The reason is Dravid's Retirement was sudden soon after the Oz series. But Sachin's Retirement Was planned thats why there was no such ceremony:)
