West Indies in Australia

Great bowling by Lee, and great start. At least Lee can bowl well when it counts and the poor bowling to the tail didn't carry on in the 2nd inns.

He has found a length in his opening spell, but apart from that, its been the same Lee.

Sarwan is off to a ripper of a start. 33 of 28 balls. Question is will he get himself out like he usually does after a good start.

Have a feeling Sarwan will make a big one. If Sarwan makes a century or close to it and Lara makes another big total then windies have a good chance of setting a large total in excess of 300.

November 27th,3rd Test-Day 3

1.)Story of the day

The Aussie's came to the field today looking to build on the solid start they made yesterday thanks mainly to Langer's 99,who was a bit unfortunate to miss his comeback century.

The day started well for the visiting Windies side who were looking to make the most of the day,Hodge departed with the score on 238,followed by Symonds who was one of the six victims in the innings for Bravo. In what seemed to be a perfect day in the making for the Windies as Gilly,Warne and Lee all departed with the score at 295-8,and the Windies looking for a phenominal first innings lead and a possible victory in the third test. The only recognised batsman remaining was Micheal Hussey who seemed fresh and confident following his century in the second test.

As Stuart Macgill joined Hussey at the crease, the duo put on a formidable partneship led by Hussey.Yet the partneship wasnt unbreakable as the Windies were responsible for their own downfall spilling a couple of good opportunities to break the partnership. Finally Macgill departed at a personal score of 22 and with the team at a much better postition at 388.

As Mcgrath joined Hussey scored his second century in only his third test,a brilliant knock rallying with the tail.He remained unbeaten at 133 in the end as Mcgrath was dismissed for 5 and Australia at 428.At one stage it looked as though West Indies would be batting in the second innings with a considerable lead ended up with a defecit of 23 runs behind.

West Indies had a poor start in their second innings with Devon Smith out early off the bowling of Lee.Sarwan then looked aggressive from the outset reaching his half-century in no time.Wavell Hinds was then dismissed as he was totally outfoxed by Warne.Darren Powell was then sent as the nightwatchman and to just hold up the end till stumps. The Windies ended at 68/2 at stumps.

2.Possibilities at the End of Day-3

The day althiugh started well for the visitor's,panned well overall for the Aussie's and it seems as though the only possible results from here on are an Aussie win or a draw, although we may never count a Windies win either such is the uncertainty of the game, today being a perfect example.

3.)Player's of the Day

3.1)For West Indies

dwayne_bravo.jpg

Dwayne Bravo-The lad had a good day picking up six wickets out of the ten in the Australian 1st innings, proving that he wasnt only a good batsman as he showed in the second test, but an equally capable bowler and a player with the good future.

3.2)For Australia

Michael Hussey-Clearly the day belonged once again to Micheal Hussey who scored his second test century in only his third test match. He rallied through the tail and hit some brilliant cover drive's,pull shots, and an incredible and clean straight sixer over the bowler's head.He seemes to be a good selection by the Australian selector's ahead of Micheal Clarke, and with such performance's his selection is confirmed atleast in the near future.

i don't think australia will look for a draw. If windies set 350 to win in say 85 or 90 overs than the aussies will chase.

What I meant in the article was that an Aussie win was most likely due to their performance with the tailender's and a good start by Lee.A draw is also a possibilty if both teams perform anything like they did with the bat in the first innings. But also a Windies win cant be totally counted out.So imo all three outcomes are possible.

Aus won't take the draw but if Sarwan isn't removed he will push the game out of our hand. The Windies won't declear before 400 as they wouldn't feel safe with it. Plus they don't have a spinner to exploit the 5th day wicket.

I agree with you. If Sarwan continues and makes somewhere near a century and if Lara can score a century than it will be difficult for AUstralia but they will still chase any total. They may not have a spinner but they do have Dwayne Bravo who is in very good form. I feel the next time he meets AUstralia he will do extremely well and may be the next Flintoff. Great all rounder he is :hpraise
