West Indies in India Nov 2011/12

Was it a good move to recall Irfan in the Indian squad?

I would love West Indies to save the innings defeat, since i don't see this game been a draw or a west indies Win.
Give India a 150 Run Chase would be good .
W.I 139 runs behind with 6 wickets remaining. another 250 run minimum would be good. D Bravo for 200 Run+ and Samuel 100 runs+. and then Baugh 30- 50 runs, and the rest of bowler Sammy 30 , Edwards 25, Roach 20 and bishoo 25 pitch in all together 100 runs or so and it would be very good. but it may not happen but it would be very interesting if it does happen.
Lol, that posts looks like funny now.

I would not give Varun Aaron a chance. Yes, he has the pace and things needed in Indian bowling but he has not been good at First Class level in domestic. Nurture Yadav, he looks amazing when on song or not. He has that hunger that we see in Zak, to pick up wickets. No doubt Varun can become good but let him first play more Domestic.

I would continue with same lineup for next test or one change, with Kohli or Rahane in for Yuvi

Yuvraj Singh has been replaced by Rohit Sharma in the India squad for the third and final Test against West Indies.

i hope rohit makes his test debut in next match.:cheers

That is a good news. This shows that even Yuvraj was given limited chances and he failed to grab. This will send strong message to non performers in a particular format

Didn't the selectors pick the squad for the 2nd and 3rd tests? How come they drop Yuvraj just like that when they have already picked him for the 3rd test? I am happy with the decision, but this is inconsistent stuff from the selectors.

I think Kohli is most likely to get another chance to have a good match and see if he can be taken to Australia. Kohli is one lucky guy because he will get enough chances as people want him to succeed at test level too (they want a superstar like Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly, etc). But Pujara must be given preference in Australia for that No.6 spot. Pujara is playing two Ranji games to prove his match fitness and he should be ideally picked for Australia and played.

they pick the squad for 3rd test today.

i want Rohit and Kohli both to play which means india should rest one senior.
Rohit is most talented young batsman but did not scored big last year in ODI, which gave Kohli chance and he made most of it.

Rohit and Rahane currently playing ranji match for Mumbai. Rohit has already scored 2 back to back hundreds and if he can score another hundred in this match then we may see him in 3rd test ahead of Kohli.

According to an article in local newspaper, Duncan Fletcher told Rahane to get match fit and practice on his home ground that is Wankhade and told him his is probably in line for playing third test. So I see Rahane replacing Yuvraj

That will be good. Rahane replacing Yuvraj will be better. Rahane can bat after Sachin, and Laxman can drop to No.6 after Rahane.

Mumbai should be sold out. If its not sold out now then I'll be really surprised. The ticket prices are dirt cheap. By dirt cheap i meant literally dirt cheap. Its 50 Rupees for 1 day and 150 rupees for all five days. That is $1 for a day and $ 3 for all 5 days.
I would have bought it for all five days surely if the match was in Bangalore. Damn they donw have any test match in Bangalore for next 8 months :mad

The empty stands at the Kolkata Test have confirmed Test cricket has serious problems on its hands,

Harsha Bhogle on the empty stands at the Kolkata Test | Opinion | Cricinfo Magazine | ESPN Cricinfo

I like Harsha's idea of cutting down on the number of teams that play test cricket. The quality of cricket from West Indies has been steadily horrible for the past 4-5 years and even when Lara was there, they were on a big decline to ridiculously low levels. Added to that, Gayle doesnt believe test cricket will survive too long. If this was an India vs Australia game at Eden Gardens, the crowd would have been 20x more. When India is winning so easily, why would the fan want to come to the ground and watch the game when he can easily follow scores at home? I am not watching this series in entirety at all (inspite of being an avid Indian cricket fan). I am just following scores on Cricinfo, and the occasional login to BCCI's stream just to see if Sachin can make that historic 100th ton.

Slash ticket prices big (like how Mumbai has done), cut down on the test teams and make it an elite format (only for the consistently high quality teams), etc. Moving it to smaller test centers won't help. Cities like Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, etc still will bring the most crowd. Also Kolkata has been more about Ganguly, and they don't currently have a Bengali star in Indian team to root for (even if Saha becomes our main keeper, he wont command the same following as Ganguly did).

Actually few people was because at the same time Ganguly was playing in Ranji match in stadium next to Eden. The stadium was houseful there
