have to say that Clark should have been in the team. I know what sifter said makes since but Ashes are 3 years away.
The Ashes are next year

Just noticed. Nash (11) is playing against his old domestic team.
:doh

Very disappointed to see Hughes out. Hussey getting more luck than he deserves. I know he's been a great player for us recently, but his time has come, and someone like Hughes holds much more value for the future.

Yeah. I'm usually pretty slow to the party so things like this is kind of like second nature to me :p

oo I went by what sifter said in his post. it said 2013. o well in that case select these guys.

Yeah I did mean 2013. Sure the 10/11 Ashes are important, but they should be easier to retain, just like last time 5-0 baby :p I mean take out the 3 mega collapses, and we would have won the Ashes pretty comfortably I think. And yes, I'm aware you can't just take out collapses, I'm just saying we had no luck with tosses, weather, 10th wicket partnerships or collapses. Take out that and we played pretty well, much better than 2005.

2012/13 is the year where we would have to tour India, South Africa and England again like the last 12 months. That is a HARD stint and that's what we need to be ready for ie. the new team members need some experience by then. Ponting, Katich and Hussey should have no problems lasting until the 10/11 Ashes, even a fit Brett Lee would be welcomed back, but after that it's a 2.5 year stretch to the 2013 series and it may seem extreme, but the moves you make now need to be made with that series in mind. eg. Brad Hodge would be a pretty pointless selection to replace a batting injury in this series.

Hughes has developed a method for playing the short ball from what I saw in the Champions League. Should only be a matter of time before he starts piling on the runs in Shield cricket.

Yes, it wasn't too bad from memory. As long as he can sustain it in a 200 ball innings where the bowlers are able to constantly bowl short, rather than a 30-50 ball innings where he gets one short ball an over tops. I want to him to do well though, he's great to watch.

The Hughes train looks to be back on track :) Hes passed 50 now although its a pretty weak Tassie attack. But the runs will give him confidence.

Great to see Reardon making a 100 and Simpson has joined the party. Hes finally looking like a batter rather than a bits and pieces player.

Scratchy and possibly lucky to get through the early part of the innings, Reardon saw off 68 balls for just 20 runs. From there, he began crunching out boundaries and scoring at better than a run a ball. The third maiden first class hundred in this match is a massive blow by the young Queenslanders, who will be confident now of wrapping up the game without having to bat again.

Good stuff from the West Indies here.....:sarcasm If our batsman don't cash in on this pedestrian bowling attack they're not trying hard enough.

Surprised we didn't go with a 13 man squad as Clarke requires daily treatment so who knows what will happen with him.

Clarke has required this for years now.

anyone know if its the pitch or just the WI bowlers and batsman not doing well.

The West Indies are just awful. Sorry, but they are.
