West Indies Tour of England - May to June 2012

Give the kid a go. He just made 100 vs England Lions. His record is pretty poor otherwise, sure, but he's got some talent. This is where you need to be reassuring Powell that 2 low scores don't mean much, not dropping him and muttering about Gayle. That just sets a high bar of expectations that he'll find it difficult/impossible to reach.

For me Shillingford has to play (unless it's so green England drop Swann). England's weak vs spin, it showed in the last few months. Why give them what they want - which is pace? I'd have perhaps Rampaul in for Edwards (whomever is fittest) and definitely Shillingford in for Gabriel.

Sure you would persist with Powell, he is easy picking for Anderson and company! But seriously he needs to be dropped, question is dropped and replaced by who? If not Gayle then he might as well remain, sadly.

As for Rampaul replacing Edwards, well I guess you did not see Rampaul during the last test down here against Australia, have he lost the weight? Rampaul was picked on his performance from a series before, he spent most of the West Indies 4-day season injured, the guy is not fit!

Now you would not drop Powell, but you would drop Gabriel, I wonder why!

Bairstow would be a Gingerbread Man.

Stuart Brourbon

Prior'd be a Garibaldi.

If the England team were made of biscuits what biscuits would they be?

Cook would be a cookie obviously, Finn would probably be a Fruit Biscuit because they're slender and Pietersen a BN Biscuit (BN Biscuit are owned by United Biscuit who own KP Snacks)

I've not over thought this honest.

Haha, next time it comes up on TMS, you'll be all over it with suggestions :p

Trott would be a hobknob, as it's a fairly solid biscuit that goes well in tea and still stays together after.

Bell would be some kind of wafer. Maybe a pink one. It looks pretty, it definitely tastes nice, but there is a potential it can crack under any pressure.

Prior is probably a rich tea because it's as bald as biscuits come :p

Bresnan as a jaffa cake because they're a bit squidgey and despite what everyone says, you're still never even sure it's a biscuit :p

----------

Morgan was an Oreo. Looks solid at first, but really easy to take apart.

Ah Garibaldi was a much better shout, I just figured he looked a bit like a rich tea with his round bald head :p

Was struggling with Jimmy, but yeah that's a good 'un.

Anzac Shahzad should still be in the squad in my opinion. Doubt he'd crumble under pressure.

What an Earth is that? Some kind of Scottish biscuit no doubt. Essentially probably a normal biscuit that is then deep fried in batter :p

Where have you been the last 2 years? I will tell you what has gone wrong with our cricket and it is POLITICS!! Every none cricketer finds themselves on the Board, pass players with pedigree are overlooked (Walsh, Ambrose etc...) and every Member for himself and/or his Island that is what is affecting our cricket!

Two years? More like a decade.

And I agree with your other post. Rampaul cant play the next test. When he played against Australia it looked like Inzamam was running in to bowl for the West Indies.

Roach and Gabriel stay and Shillingford can come in for Fidel if they really want to play a spinner, or if Fidel is injured.

LoL. dyam he got that Fat . dyam, well i did watch he Australia tour on my phone lol.

yeah b agree with ya, it' been a Decade unfortunely :( .

But i dont only Blame de board for our downfall , I blame everyone.
in de 80's was de Same Political Problem between C Loyd and WICB, they were always conflict. Can you imaging banning a west Indies with C Loyd and Co from Playing for west Indies, WICB did it. Yet, when C Loyd and them were we call back, they perform, they played for the people and didn't care about WICB, this is the sprite, West Indies lacks. If not with Talent like Gayle, Sarwan, Chanderpaul, Pollard, Bravos, Ramdin, J Taylor, F Edwards, K Roach, Narine, etc Who can beat us.
During 2004- 2009 West Indies had there Best 11 in the Team. yet we were unable to Dominated the world.
While The Board Hurt some player careers, who could of go on to be better players, while some Player who were Capable didn't care much about WI team, since they played like nothing will happen. then came Gibson, while other coach just played the top 11 best player and didnt really say nothing about them, while WI keep getting beat, Gibson did the opposite and reacted, which causes all this Issues after the World cup 2011 where West Indies still having here best players failed to beat any Major teams in the world cup. Which lead to Gayle Reaction and which started Gayle episode.
the rest continue, Pollard and Bravo are Free agent they Plays for West Indies when they are Free from T20 around de world, they refuse West Indies Contact Even before all this problem started, and are unavailable for selection during those time. Narine who made his debut this year, we will see if West Indies give him contact this October when everyone contact will be renew.

While West Indies and Guyana Cricket Baord turn away from Sarwan, which for me was unfair to Sarwan, now will show more dedication toward his county, he Also Rejected West Indies Offer to be in the West Indies Squad after a Major Batting Collapse in there match against England Lions. Which for me Sarwan did the right thing, He is one person I will not really critics he Was very Loyal to West Indies, unlike Gayle, Pollard and Dywane Bravo. but still again for me Gayle and Pollard Really deserved to play for WI. Bravo for me is so and so. I just wish Gayle didn't reject West Indies Contact if not he would still be opening for WI.

anyway that is PAST. West Indies Board NEEDS to think about the Future now. Gayle is ready to play for us, he is available to play again, until next IPL.
and we really need an Opening Pair. Also Pollard and Narine will be back for Selection after they Team finish the IPL, both to were unavailable for the Beginning of this Tour and the end of Australia Tour.

The board is an issue, not the only issue though. Players like Lara, Chanderpaul, Walsh and Ambrose are not coming through, the grand majority of players coming through are pale imitations of past players.

Cricket needs a boost in West Indies, I don't think IPL helps by drawing off those who are remotely any good and friction with the board who no doubt want to control them and not let them do their own thing. I don't doubt money is an issue, and with West Indies not doing so well it won't get better anytime soon. Greed is always a bad thing, don't think the board are entirely to blame over some of the past 'disagreements'.

The problems started more than a decade ago when American culture began to have more of an influence on the Windies than the British colonials from the past. Where cricket had been so prominent, instead Basketball now attracts many of the young kids. Football (or soccer) as well is another. Unfortunately, a tall 6 foot 8 potential fast bowler began to be more likely to be lured by the financial gains of basketball and of course the ease with which the sport can be played in just about any area helps.
