West Indies tour of New Zealand

Hats off to Chanderpaul and also Nash who played a lot better than I would have expected, he was good against the spinners once he got going. Just needs to watch the wide balls he has a wild swing at early in his innings.

Chandepaul was great, what a batsman!

WI only got 258 runs today so i'd say NZ are on top, especially since we lost the toss. I'd say the Ramdin dismissal put our noses in front. Looks like this will be a great test match.

Nash was probably always better than his fairly terrible career with Queensland suggested, but really this much better? By measure against the current West Indies team, perhaps, but in this one innings it's hard to see a batsman who has done anything more than punish the bowlers for pitching too full or too short on a decent wicket. It's simple stuff combined with a good all-round sporting talent, but the real shame will certainly not be that he got away from Australia or Queensland, it will be that so many of the West Indies players fail to learn to play with anywhere near that level of professionalism.

A very good 100 by Chanderpaul,NZ got a wicket in last over,WI came back strong after their bad start today, these two teams are quite evenly balanced...we saw that many a times in last match,at particular time one team is doing good, after some time another team makes a comeback...lets hope we have a result here..

WI came back in game thanks to Chanderpaul,he is a true champion,he like Hussey of Aus,who plays in singles, but important thing is that he gets runs, thats what matters in end..

It was a fairly even day with NZ landing the early punches. But WI recovered magnificently through Chanderpaul and Nash and they guided their side to a respectable position, until NZ struck two late blows to tilt the scales in their favour. Undoubtedly the star of the day was Chanderpaul and he will look to go on tommorrow.

I haven't been watching but gathering by the scoreboard, either West Indies fought back well to get back into this game, Or New Zealand did bad to let them back into it. Either way Chanderpaul showed his class with yet another ton. Good work by Nash to get his maiden 50 too.

Not at all, our bowling and fielding I felt was excellent. Chanderpaul is just a rock and Nash played pretty well (though was lucky early on). Once he got in Nash was pretty solid. Usually we do let sides back in but I didn't feel that way today.

Hopefully Taylor can't back up and we can leave Chanderpaul stranded with the West Indies scoring 300-320. I think it's probably a 400 wicket but neither side has really strong batting all the way down.

6 wickets for O'Brien,he wrapped up WI 1st inngs to close to 307,lets see how NZ bats, they would be hoping to get a good lead...but a fantastic inngs by Chanderpaul..

WI would have hoped to get a score around 350-400,but O'Brien got 6 wickets and everything finished...Chanderpaul had said they were targetting a score of 400

He was targeting 400 but the rest of the team except for Nash obviously wasn't. WI need to make some changes, Ramdin should go out. In my opinion Baugh should have played the 2nd test. For the ODIs they should have called up Fletcher. Also Powell needs to be dropped for someone younger and more effective.

How is out and this will be a low scoring match for sure.

Are there many people following this match at the ground?

How is gonna get the boot. Sad because i think he's better than that. I thought he was suitable for the replacement for richardson but he isn't mentally tough nor did he convert those 60s and 70s that are now coming back to bite him.

The 18th over finished and New Zealand scored finally a run in 30 balls. For people who like to see bowlers, it must be a party.

lol since the WI are bowling I love seeing them bowl.

people were talking about Chattergoon bating slow, check out McIntosh.

Whats with the slow scoring? Excellent bowling or just good bowling with tough batting conditions etc?
