West Indies tour of New Zealand

Franklin perhaps shouldn't be in the side yet for opening the bowling, but he's a good 4th seamer. We needed to have Chris Martin. He's a bit down on pace but bowled a good spell to get 2 wickets so hopefully he's getting back into the groove. Not a great wicket for seamers.

I was a tad disappointed at our day when you consider we got Chanderpaul out first ball. Nash made too many runs, he's a one-dimensional player. He only plays square and is horrible under the short ball. Well done to Gayle, a good innings and totally different to the way he usually plays. You can tell West Indies have given up winning the game, they're batting time. Bad news for them is that they're turning down runs which makes the score easier to overhaul.

I think we should win. We should be able to get 3 wickets in the first hour tomorrow. Won't be a huge score to chase and the pitch is a road. If we don't win i'll be pretty disappointed since I believe we have a better side overall. We don't have a Chanderpaul but our all-round team is better.

I dont know man, Id say the sides were evenly matched before the series started. Both have a bunch of inexperienced players and some solid guys that have been playing cricket for a while.
Chanders, Gayle, Sarwan/Vettori, McCullum, Taylor
Both have a huge difference maker on their team, Chanders for WI and Vettori for NZ. Both are missing a key player Bravo for WI and Oram for NZ.

It was just who's youngsters are going to step up more. Id say NZ players stepped it up more with Ryder and Flynn both playing really good cricket while for WI its only been Nash and he did really well giving both WI centurions solid support at the other end.

Dont really know what to say about the bowling. A few good performances but neither side has really bowled a entire innings that well.

NZ wins it in the fielding department hands down. They were always the better side in that area of the game.

As for tomorrow, ill be confident with anything over 250. NZ will need to score some at a good rate and that will mean more chances taken and chances for WI. Gayle needs to hit some big shots tomorrow.

DUDE!

It's not as if P and T are close on the keyboard either. Anywho, I'm backing the Kiwis to chase a total down, I can see them wrapping up the WI innings tomorrow, looking at O'Brien mostly. Last chance for How too, I like him, I think he has a good technique, so I'm hopeful he can come out of his slump too.

.Mob ease up on Dare mate, it's a typo, :D, I hope.
On topic, I do not see Gayle hanging around with the tail for too long if we want to win this match, and we do, so I see him after a good rest and rub down going all out and try to put say another 50 runs on the board and then let loose Edwards and Taylor on the Kiwi, and let them take their chances, because they too want to win this match and series.

Taylor already out man, all we got left is Ben and Powell and if we cant trust them for bowling cant trust them for batting. Like you said Gayle is gonna play some big shots and try to score as fast as he can.

I was thinking of Taylor partnering Edwards with the new ball, and letting them have a hostile 6 over spell each at the Kiwis.

oo ic. sorry man.

yea I'm thinking they should have more chances if we can get past 250. NZ will have to score at a good rate and that's when chances will come. I just hope that we can hold the catches when they come.

Mate we can win this, if we can get another 50 runs and have 75 overs to go hard at them, nothing short, because the wicket is dead, but pitched up balls, with some away movement to the lefties, and for the damn... Ramdin to hold our catches and good fielding, that is where we missing a proper spinner like we discussed yesterday and Bravo.
Another guy West Indies have not been good to is Dwayne Smith, that is the kind of man you want on a field, speed and accuracy, that's him. But will leave that for another topic!!!

WestIndian added 17 Minutes and 43 Seconds later...

Ha ha ha what a smash by Edwards for 4 off O' Brien, I like it short stuff to Edwards and then take that, four :hpraise:happy:hpraise:happy

Now looking at the squad I would have liked to see Ganga in at #4 and Marshall opening. Ganga is not a opener and he doesn't play it for T&T but he was made to do that when he was in the Test XI. I'm sure he could have done better than Marshall at #4 and Marshall could have done better than Chattergoon as a opener.

West Indies are batting like they are trying to save the match.

Finally Gayle decides to charge up. Three fours in the over already. And here is another one: 4 fours in the over.

Ganga for me has had enough chances. Wouldn't the West Indies consider Adrian Barath? He is inexperienced but he is averaging in the 40's and the Windies need someone who has a few runs on the board at the moment.

I think we will see more of this from Gayle, thanks to O'Brien, he wake him up with that bouncer, well as a thank you he got 4 fours in the over :D

I'm sure that Barath is next in line but he is still a bit too young, I would like to see him play this domestic season and if he does good he should get a shot. He is certainly the next best thing out of the Caribbean.

And I'm not that big on Ganga too in fact I was ripping him when he got a shot against South Africa but he had to open and he isn't a opener. If not Ganga than Simmons.

I would not put such a responsibility of opening on Barath, not just yet, I wish he could gain some experience maybe in County Cricket, even if is for one season. Or maybe a tour (4 day matches) against say Zim or even test against Bangladesh, that would get him ripe for the big stage.
