West Indies tour of New Zealand

If a mod could sticky this now that would be great.

The tour match between the West Indies and Auckland has started for ball by ball updates you can check here 80/1 | AUCKLAND ACES vs WEST INDIES

Gayle is not taking part in the warm up Ramdin is the captain instead. McIntosh is getting one last chance to push for a Black caps call up hes off to a solid start right now, the squad is being announced tomorrow I believe.

West Indies cricket never cease to amaze me, Gayle is not but Sarwan is, who is the VC, yet he is playing in this warm up match, but they make Ramdin the captain, what's with that???

Why are they playing a B side? You'd think some of the top players would want some practice in our conditions.

At the moment, 301/2 West Indies are struggling to penetrate. Runs to Mcntosh is a pleasing sign.

well because for some (i cant swear) reason they named him the ODI VC. WTF are they thinking, this guy hasn't done anything in a long time and yet they put more pressure on him and make him the VC. I don't think he ever captained in domestic cricket, this better be until Bravo comes back.

And i would have included Pollard in the test squad.

I went down to the game today, and don't get to disapointed West Indies fans the pitch is a road. Tim McIntosh played well, scoring runs here should help his cause to making the NZ team. Kemar Roach was the pick of the bolwers, he was very quick.

Mcintosh did quite well today, probably should of converted that start into a big 100 on that pitch. It will be interesting to see what happens with the opening spots when the sides are picked tomorrow.

My NZ XI

1. McIntosh
2. How
3. Flynn
4. Taylor
5. Oram
6. Ryder
7. McCullum
8. Franklin
9. Vettori
10. Southee
11. O'Brien

McIntosh is the form opener of the comp, so nothing much needs to be said about why he shouldd be in the side. I think How needs to play in this series, to see if he can learn to handle genuine pace at the international level, which is his biggest weakness. Though Redmond wasn't bad against Australia he just doesn't seem to be a batsman that is going to be in the side after the summer IMO.

I wouldn't make any changes to that middle order in terms of new players, though I think we need to shuffle it around a bit with Flynn and Ryder swapping position, Oram slotting in back at no.5 while keeping McCullum at 7.

Franklin deserves a recall, I think he should bat ahead of Vettori. I think we should keep O'Brien & Southee, because they both have more upsides than Martin & Mills.

Though I wouldn't be all that shocked to see B.J Watling, Matthew Bell named tomorrow to form a new opening pair with McIntosh, Watling seems to be the best of the young batch, while Bell has the experiennce and a few scores to his name, I would even add Neil Broom as a contender, as he's one of the rare batsman to have consistency in domestic cricket, he also can stick around for a long time and can also rebuild the innings, he should of been in the team that went to England earlier this year, I think he deserves any possible chance to be in the Black Caps.

It will be a good contest,NZ conditions are really tough, playing there is a tough challenge,so WI with new captain will definately try hard, also NZ will try to win after their 2-0 defeat,i just feel NZ has edge over WI,though WI have good fast bowlers and pitches there suite fast bowling, the main problem for Wi is batting and feilding, while NZ is avg in all dept, they feild well, batting is ok,bowling is avg.Any news about S Bond,if he is playing then things will be different.

I feel it will be quite evenly balanced contest, both teams have different style of batting,bowling,feilding...Interesting contest ahead, its difficult to predict now,NZ has home advantage though, lets see...

Bond??? What's this all about?? I mean I am one of those that is in full support of ICL players, playing International Cricket, but this is out of the blue, is there something happening in that direction??

NZ team announced

1: McIntosh
2: How
3: Flynn
4: Taylor
5: Ryder
6: Oram
7: McCullum
8: Franklin
9: Vettori
10: Gillespie
11: O'Brien
12: Patel

They are talking about it on radio sport right now It isn't on any sites yet. The way I have it listed there is how they have been reading it out so I think Flynn will be moving up the order.

Redmond, Fulton, Elliot, Martin and Southee all dropped can understand the first 3 but the latter is a bit of a shock.

Bond won't be selected ever again probably.

I feel our bowling is of international quality. It's only the batting which lets us down and has for the past few years. Even when we had Fleming, he was the only one in the batting who wss consistent and could make big scores.

EDIT: Interesting. Good to see Redmond got dropped. Martin dropped is ridiculous, he was our best bowler equal with O'Brien in Australia. Glad to see Gillespie in though because he did reasonably well on debut and totally destroyed Northern Districts. Southee's still new so sending him off to work a bit might be good. Flynn at 3 is a good move, good to see.

Thats a pretty solid looking squad on paper. good to see Franklin in. Gutted to see Southee dropped and Ive never been high on Martin.

Would've preferred Bell over McIntosh To be honest.

I think I like New Zealand's new kit. It's a bit weird and that big logo on the front seems a bit intrusive.

It's absolutely horrendous!

Cricketman added 7 Minutes and 2 Seconds later...

Send Vettori up the order. He's a very sound batsman, and (lol) marybe your best. Sending him in at 6 or even 5 wouldn't be a bad idea at all.

Good new for New Zealand - Oram is fit again. Hopefully he'll pick up any slack with the batting scheme of things and complete this team a bit.

on the West Indian side, FIDEL is BACK! :D I love watching this guy bowl, every delivery looks like a scorcher even though they may actually only be clocked at around 130. He's a very exciting player to watch and seems to be similar in aggression the legends of the past - He isn't afraid to throw down four bouncers on the trot for example.

Ramdin is vice captain which is surprising. I didn't know he had his spot sealed in the team even but i'm no West Indian cricket buff.

Got to back the West Indies here, I think they'll simply overpower them. Both the Calypso batsman and bowlers are aggressive and in your face, compared to a rather bored-looking, bits-and-pieces New Zealand side. Hopefully the Kiwis will prove me wrong and put up a good fight. Looks to be a good contest nevertheless, will try to tune in for this over the winter break.

Sorry i really forgot that Bond plays in ICl,really sorry

Auckland 1st innings :2 wickets; 92 overs, 359 (3.90 runs per over),WI will come back on 2nd day...
