West Indies tour of New Zealand

NZ 112/3 (19.2 ov) require another 17 runs with 7 wickets and 30.4 overs remaining, they bowled well,so we will have to wait for the fianl match for series winner....

The series is level now. Sarwan once again back to his form(Single digits):D.

It was New Zealand's day all along, with Vettori winning the toss and sending West Indies to bat on a seamy track. The bowlers responded well by taking quick wickets. Vettori then took over the mantle and took 4 important wickets to trigger a middle order collapse and dismiss West Indies for a paltry total of 128. Only Chanderpaul waged a lone battle for his 45. New Zealand also started the well, but lost 3 quick wickets in space of two overs. Taylor and Flynn then joined together and made sure there were no further hiccups and shared an unbeaten partnership of 89 and helped New Zealand level the 5 match series 1-1 with 2 more games to go.

Daniel Vettori has been named Man of the Match for his fantastic bowling effort.

got to say that I agree with Cozier about some of the selections. I wasn't a fan of Miller being selected but he should be given time to mark his spot in ODIs.
Shawn Findlay shouldn't be anywhere near the team, like cozier said he isn't even a regular in the Jamaican team. It would have made much more sense to select Andre Fletcher who is a way better batsman than Fletcher and can actually play WK which we need bad.
To be honest I would have hung on to Morton. Xavier Marshall is starting to look like a specialist fielder and I'm not sure what sort of specialist Ramdin is. If he's batting at six with the form he's in, then there is something massively wrong with their perception of the team. With all their odd selections, I wonder what keeps them from picking Barath. As young as he is, the sooner they pick him, the sooner he starts to learn how to play proper cricket.

I'm sure that Barath cant play any worse than these guys are playing atm. I'm sure whoever does good in this upcoming domestic season will be in the team to face England.

Looks like Pollard got a little pissed of at the decision that went against him last night and broke some glass in the change room.

Cricinfo - Pollard reprimanded for damaging dressing-room door

Wouldn't want to be in his way when he is pissed, tbh.

Juggernaught.

Yeah the dude is no small man, he could do some damage, I just wish he would do it on the field and to the opposition, bowling using his bat.
Gayle himself was pissed like a bi..., I believe we will see some anger vented in the next match.

I hope that's the spark the big man (gayle) needs. He hasn't had a good performance in these ODIs and he is due for a good score.

The only change I would make is Nash in for Findlay. After yesterdays performance or lack of some middle order stability wouldn't be bad.

Yeah I couldn't understand why Nash got dropped. He looked good in the Tests and even in his two ODI innings at least he contributed something. Unlike Marshall, Pollard and Findley who haven't yet.

I don't know about Marshall in particular. He doesn't seem good enough at this level. Barring playing minnow sides he's been really bad. Technique is bad, temperament is bad. Only thing in his favor is he's probably one of the better fielders.

Yea Marshall has been a big disappointment on this tour. He hasn't done anything in any form of the game. After the series is over he needs to play some 1st class cricket and score some runs there if the selectors are to consider him for the matches against England.

How hasbeen dropped from the ODI side and replaced by Guptill.

I'm very dissapointed. I'm not a fan of Gultill at all. Watling and Ingram both have had better starts to the state shield. Fulton gets ignored again for some reason. How fielded well and deserved the final 2 games. Dropping him based on a wash-out, a 28 over game and an absolute hiding is ridiculous.

Good luck to him. Hes in a 12 man squad along with Broom so one of them will make there debut.

As for How I wouldn't of dropped him just yet I would have let him play out the series first and then see where we are at before going to Australia. You have to take your chances and How has had plenty of them if Guptill or Broom make some runs it could be hard to get back in a lot of batsman have been making runs this season.

Guptill opens, so it's a strange selection. McCullum and Ryder will open so either the selectors have him as backup, they're going to screw over a successful opening partnership or they're yet again selecting people out of position which I am getting bloody sick of. They should have picked a 3 or 4. Taylor could bat at 3 as he's been good at that position.

Both will play because Oram is also out as well as How leaving 2 spots.

So Guptill will make his international debut at a position he's barely played at before, will probably fail and then will get unfairly replaced not because he's not good enough, but because he's being asked to do something different.

I would figure Guptil is going to play at 3, which isn't too harsh on a specialist opener. His figures for the season are a wild improvement, striking at better than a run a ball. I'm not sure if that's a reflection on the one day grounds this season, but he's been picked to play at Eden Park and Napier, so why not? It will be interesting.
