Ofcourse there is a third alternative avenue worth considering, if the ICC desire and will is to to be garnished and permit Ireland an opportunity to prove their bona fides to suitability for Test recognition and indeed, it is a road they have once trodden before, though I hasten to add with very limited success!
And that is to re-enter the English 4 day F.C.county championships just as their associate counterparts Scotland do and compete along them with the rest of the tiered, divisional leagues throughout England!
It would be much more advantageous this time round for all concerned, Ireland should be more competitive and with recent improvements and modernization in their home infrastructure, i.e. grounds, spectator accommodation and pitches etc. this could be a viable option?
How-an-ever, whatever avenue or road is taken by the ICC governing bodies, if indeed any, I hope they move sooner rather than later, perhaps after the 2015 ODI world cup, as this will be an ideal platform for them to showcase their ever improving talents to the world and then afterwards we might see some positive action?
