A Heart of Gold: A Pok?mon Story (Chewie v Iridium v Hedger)

Well good luck. I'm already half finished my next update :p

I'm probably not going to be able to update until the weekend. Got two tests this week, and I haven't started studying for one of them, and the other is law so I have lots of work to do for that.

I may post each update in small bits though. So I might play 20 or so minutes here and there, do a little update, and then consolidate it into one big one, similar to what you two will be doing.

Well I've only been playing for about 40 minutes now and I'm already in Violet City and I've been training up my Pidgey a fair bit so it's not that hard.

And do you do law? Is it good? I was thinking about doing it, as I'm aceing legal studies at school, and the best in my class by a mile (got 100% in my last essay).

Just keep going. I've already nearly finished my next update (just need to go through Sprout Tower now) so I'll post my update sometime tomorrow since my DS is on red.

Just a suggestion: You might want to use emails, pms, msn or something to discuss this story with each other. The thread is already 5 pages long and I had to go on a hunt through to find the actual story content, if 95% of the posts are gonna be you guys talking to each other it might hamper the flow a little bit.

You know it's all indexed on the first post right? There's no need to hunt through pages to find the story.

@ Spoobir, this always happens in threads like this :p Just see the Worcestershire one, it's just as bad I think :p And it is all indexed in the first post so you can just check there.

A Heart of Gold: A Pokemon Story - Part 2

I set out again ready for my long journey to become the Champion. I said goodbye to everyone in our small town and set out, onto Route 29.

Route 29

I saw Lyra with her Marill just outside town. She told me I could catch wild pokemon with poke balls and then showed me how by catching a Rattata. She then gave me 5 Poke Balls before running off. I decided to try and use them straight away. My first pokemon I caught was a level 2 Pidgey, before I took him back to the pokemon lab to heal so I could train him up. I decided to focus on my Pidgey giving him some decent experience.

Cherrygrove City

Not much to do here, and mainly just used it to heal my Pidgey before going back to Route 29 to train him up further. After Pidgey reached level 6, with my Cyndaquil still on level 10, I decided to leave, but grabbed another 5 poke balls at the Poke Mart before I left, costing $800.

Route 30

So I continued on my journey. I battled a couple of wild pokemon getting my Pidgey up to level 6. The two trainers that had been battling earlier were gone but one guy stopped me when I went to run past and I had to battle him. Cyndaquil made quick work of his Rattatta though, killing him in one shot with Ember. He gave me his number then and I continued on, where I got into another battle. Again, it was a pretty easy battle as Cyndaquil dispatched his Pidgey before I let my Pidgey defeat his Rattatta. Another trainer then challenged me, although this time it was a bug catcher, where Cyndaquil killed his two Caterpie?s with ease.

Route 31

The first trainer I came across was another bug catcher with a few low level bugs so I decided to give Pidgey the chance to gain some experience, and he grew to level 9, and learned a new move. Gust! The pokemon trainer I just beat gave me his phone number and then I set off again. There were a few new wild pokemon that I encountered such as Caterpie and Bellsprout. I went into the entrance to Violet City where Lyra surprised me coming in behind me. She wondered how I got in front of her and then gave me the Vs. Recorder, before running off again. I then made my way into the new city.

Violet City

The first building I came across in Violet City was the Pokemon Center so I went and healed my pokemon. Somebody in a house wanted a Bellsprout and would trade an Onix for it so I quickly went back to Route 31 and caught a Bellsprout. I traded it for Onix, who was level 3 although his nickname was Rocky. Wasn?t too happy that it had a nickname but it would have to do. It was holding a Parsis Berry as well so I took that off the pokemon. I went to the gym but the guide in there told me to train at Sprout Tower first, so off I went again, running over the bridge and into Sprout Tower.

Sprout Tower

There seemed to be trainers in Sprout Tower, as the first trainer I faced had 3 low level Bellsprout?s, very predictable considering the name of the tower. After a few trainers, all with Bellsprout?s, my Cyndaquil growing to level 13 and learning Quick Attack, replacing Leer. The last trainer surprised me, by sending a Hoothoot in, after all the Bellsprout?s I had faced in the tower. The result was still the same though.

I now had to face the elder. Cyndaquil killed his first Bellsprout in one shot with Ember, as Cyndaquil grew to level 14. Hoothoot was the biggest challenge at level 10, but Cyndaquil also made quick work of him before I let Pidgey finish him off by killing his final Bellsprout, and grew to level 11.

What!? Cyndaquil is evolving and it evolved into a Quilava. I was very pleased. The elder was also pleased with the way I battled, unlike my rival who had came in just earlier and ran off again like always, and he said that I would be able to stand up to the gym leader, Falkner. He then gave me the TM, Flash. Now it was for the gym leader, and my first gym badge. I thought I was up for the challenge with my Quilava and Pidgey. I left Sprout Tower, then went and healed my pokemon, so I was fully ready for the gym challenge.

This guy, getting all of these phone numbers, sorry then. :p

Btw in Route 31; "She wondered how I go in front of her and then gave me the Vs. Recorder", I think "go" should be "got".

A Heart of Gold - Part 2(1)

Route 29 & 46
As I set out, I met Lyra on route 29. She taught me how to catch pokemon of my own, and gave me 5 pokeballs, which was rather nice of her. They're expensive things! I wanted to try and catch every pokemon in the world so I started by nabbing myself a level 3 Sentret, a level 3 Geodude, a level 4 Rattata, a level 2 Spearow and a level 2 Pidgey.

Cherrygrove City
With the recent additions to my party, I had run out of pokeballs. Conveniently, the Pokemart in Cherrygrove City had just started stocking them, and so I picked up 15, before taking time to heal my pokemon at the Pokemon Centre, and depositing all the pokemon except Totodile into the PC. I didn't really want them except for my collection so they can go chill in there instead.

I don't have time to do long updates, so I'll do a number of small ones and then combine them into long ones

Iridium - Part 2

I quickly said goodbye to my mother and off I went. Destination: Violet City. Lyra was waiting for me outside of town and she offered to teach me how to catch Pokemon. Unfortunately she went way too fast the first time, so she showed me again, catching a Rattata in the process. She gave me five Pokeballs and wished me luck on my journey

Route 29
After the lesson, I walked towards Cherrygrove City for the second time today. As I walked I came across a Sentret and thought I'd give this Pokemon catching thing a go. I weakened it with a Scratch attack from Totodile and threw a Pokeball. It hit and Sentret was pulled into the ball. After a few moments, the ball stopped moving. With that, I had caught my first Pokemon. [SENTRET | M | Lvl 3]

Halfway between New Bark Town and Cherrygrove there was a gate house which led north. I decided to check it out.

Route 46
As I entered the route, the first thing I noticed was how rough the terrain was. The route snaked up towards the mountains but it was inaccessible from the south. My time wouldn't be a complete waste as there were Pokemon in the grass. I trained my Totodile by battling the Geodude that were there, picking one up for myself. [GEODUDE | M | Lvl 3]. Totodile reached Lvl 9 at this stage.

As I was leaving this route, a Spearow flew out of nowhere and almost took my head off. It was quite a feisty customer, and I liked the fight it showed. Totodile managed to hit it with Water Gun and I took the opportunity to catch it.

Spearow | M | Lvl 2

Back on Route 29, I caught a Pidgey as well. [PIDGEY | M | Lvl 3] This catching business was turning out to be pretty easy!

Cherrygrove City
I quickly healed my Pokemon and spent some money on more Pokeballs. They had a promotion on, with a "Buy 10, get one free" deal. Who am I to pass up a deal like that?

Route 30
As I was walking along, a Metapod fell out of a tree and gave me a right scare. I laughed as I saw what it was and threw a Pokeball at it. It didn't put up much of a fight. [METAPOD | M | Lvl 4]

There was a few Trainers along the route, with Joey being my first opponent. I easily swept him aside along with the other Youngster. The Bug Catcher was a little trickier, with his Pokemon's String Shot entangling my Pokemon and slowing them right down. This did give me an opportunity to train my newly acquired Spearow. By the end of the battle, Spearow was Lvl 4.

Route 31
I had a battle with Bug Catcher Wade and Spearow easily overcame his Bugs, advancing one more level. Wade offered his phone number and said he would call if he found some berries. Who am I to pass up a deal like that? I also managed to nab a Caterpie just before I entered Violet City. [CATERPIE | F | Lvl 4]

Violet City
Someone called out my name and reI turned around and saw it was Lyra. She gave a Vs. Recorder, which was some kind of PDA/camera thing which didn't work. Apple weren't going to be troubled with this piece of tat.

I rested in the Pokemon Centre and found my way to the gym. Upon entering, the guide said I wasn't ready to face the Leader. He suggested I go to Sprout Tower for some training. So guess where I went.

Sprout Tower
Yes I decided to take the guides advice and train for a bit in the tower. The sages seemed to be fascinated with Bellsprout for some reason. My Totodile wouldn't fare well against the Sages' grass type Pokemon but Spearow would dominate. And dominate it did. Spearow faced little resistance as he blew away the opposition. But boy were the sages a downer with all this talk of "I'm not worthy" and "Oh, I'm so weak". What a depressing bunch.

I made it to the top of the tower and saw the red-headed kid, Daniel, destroy the Elder. The Elder said he should be more kind to his Pokemon. He ignored the counsel, gave a little emo speech and left. Now it was my turn to face Elder Li.

Spearow took care of his first Bellsprout and Li followed that up by sending out a Hoothoot. I responded by sending out Totodile and a Water Gun attack very nearly took it out in one hit. Hoothoot used Hypnosis and missed but it worked the second time around. Totodile fell asleep and Hoothoot started to Peck away at him. I yelled for Totodile to wake up and just as it seemed Hoothoot had the battle won, Totodile woke up and knocked out the owl with a Scratch. His last Bellsprout didn't do as much damage, with Spearow ending the battle.

Iridium defeated Elder Li
Spearow - 252 exp
Totodile - 123 exp
$1200

Elder Li commended me on my kind-hearted approach to Pokemon and gifted me with TM70 (Flash). I thanked him for the battle and TM and made my way down, glad that I had made this small detour.

I now felt more than ready to challenge the Violet City Leader for my first badge.

You's catching all your pokemon :p I'll focus on completing my Pokedex at a later date, I think :p

And Chewie might have a bit of trouble in Sprout Tower if he takes in his Totodile. And I prefer Pidgey to Spearow.

That's fine Chewie, I guess.
