Story A Season In The Life Of.....................Me...!![C2005]

Too right, I think some of the suggestions above may be used, I like the idea of sending him in as an opener so maybe ill use that to get some quick runs, not sure yet.

Briggs Rips Through Leicestershire
At Headingly

Shaun Briggs took 5 wickets, including a 4 wicket over which included a hat-trick, to give Yorkshire a commanding victory over Leicestershire at Headingly. Late wickets on day 3 looked to have shook the away team as they came out on day 4 and lost wickets at a shocking rate. 5 wickets fell for no runs as any hope Leicestershire had of getting a draw quickly fell down the drain as Yorkshire charged on in their search for promotion.

From Briggs View
Shaun Briggs took the game by the scruff of the neck by taking yet another 5 wicket haul and becoming the first Yorkshire player to take a hat-trick this season in what turned out to be an amazing game for the youngster. Briggs cleaned up the tail on day 4 after taking the vital wicket of Aftab Habib late on in day 3 which seeminlgly shook Leicestershire into submission as they collapsed on day 4. Briggs hat-trick victims were Gibson, Masters and Willoughby, HD Ackerman also fell earlier in the over as Briggs ensured another victory for his team.

7th Over: 2 singles picked up from the over

11th Over: HD Ackerman starts to play some shots on day 4, first hammering a huge 6 down the ground, but then he edges just past Harvey at slip for 4
12th Over: WICKETS! An amazing over, first HD Ackerman goes for the big one but hits it straight to a fielder, then 2 balls later, the hat-trick begins with Gibson hitting straight to a fielder, then two amazing slip catches by Dawson see Masters and Willoughby dismissed and victory for Yorkshire.

Stats For Shaun Briggs After Game Nine
statsafter98mw.jpg

Shaun Briggs continues to amaze each time he plays in the longer version of the game, and this time he did not fail to dissapoint either, scoring a century and taking a 5 wicket haul. If only he could transfer this form into the shorter version of the game he truly would be a special player for Yorkshire.

Yorkshire vs Warwickshire
At Headingly

Yorkshire face a test today when they take on highly fancied Warwickshire at Headingly. With a list of stars including Ian Bell, Ashley Giles and Nick Knight on show for Warwickshire, Yorkshire face a tough task to continue their push for promotion. Yorkshire are still without Michael Vaughan and Matthew Hoggard who are away on ODI duty for England but they proved they can cope without them in their last match. Both captains checked the conditions before the match.

So yet ANOTHER green pitch prepared at Headingly and with overcast conditions, bowling first would be a good option as it could swing early on. The toss was taken by Craig White and Nick Knight

So, Nick Knight won the toss and suprisingly elected to bat first. Right decision? only time would tell. The teams were announced and Yorkshire made their way on to the field to prepare to field.

Many people were suprised to see that Briggs had been promoted to open with Wood. Would it pay off?

Warwickshire Falter As Yorkshire Gain Control
At Headingly

Nick Knight must have regretted batting first as his Warwickshire team were bowled out for 162 in their innings. After a very good opening stand of 45, Both openers were dismissed in the same over by Ian Harvey, and this was to be a blow Warwickshire never recovered from as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Dougie Brown top scored for Warwickshire with 25 while Ian Harvey and Shaun Briggs both took 3 wickets for Yorkshire.

From Briggs View
Shaun Briggs bowled very well again as he took 3 for 30 in his 8 overs. Briggs bowled with pace and was very fired up which seemed to trouble the Warwickshire batsmen. A few missed opportunities cost Briggs wickets but he will be very happy with the 3 he did take, especially the big one of Ian Bell at the top of the innings.

Shaun Briggs 8-0-30-3
1st Over: WICKET! Briggs strikes in his first over as Ian Bell hits straight in the air and is caught easily by Phil Jaques
2nd Over: 2 runs from the over
3rd Over: A fired up Briggs bowls a bouncer which eludes both batsman and keeper and goes away for 4 wides
4th Over: Dawson drops a simple chance much to the anoyance of Briggs
5th Over: WICKET! Trott clips one straight to Bresnan to bring his innings to an end
6th Over: Giles edges one safe as Briggs looks for more wickets
7th Over: Heath Streak tucks into Briggs by smashing him for first a 4 and then a 6
8th Over: WICKET! Giles smashes Briggs for 6, but Briggs replies in only the way he knows how to by trapping Giles plum infront next ball to end the Warwickshire innings

Even if you get a 100, your still No.5 in the PC Rockers, so don't get your hopes up too high.

Yorkshire Edge Home
At Headingly

Yorkshire can count themselves fortunate to have won this game as Warwickshire pushed them all the way at Headingly. An unbeaten 83 from promoted Shaun Briggs saw Yorkshire home, but some silly running between the wickets cost Yorkshire 3 run outs, and they were lucky not to be punished further for them. Briggs received little support in his 83 but Michael Lumb scored a quick fire 44 to ensure Yorkshire squeezed home by 4 wickets.

From Briggs View
Briggs looks like he has found a new place in the batting line up for Yorkshire as his unbeaten 83 guided Yorkshire to victory. Briggs started aggressively and probably would have gone on that way had wickets not fallen regularly, but it was a very mature knock from Briggs and his first decent score in the Totesport League to date. He did survive a dropped chance on 22 though but after that there was no looking back as he scored the winning run to give Yorkshire victory.
