Kent Struggle As Yorkshire Bowlers Take Control
At Headingly
Despite the batter friendly conditions, it was the Yorkshire bowlers who managed to get a grasp on the Kent batsmen at Headingly as they restricted them to a low total of only 179 for 4 from there 45 overs. Despite the low amount of wickets taken, the restriction was evedant as hardly any of the Yorkshire bowlers went at over 5 an over. Rob Key played a fine innings for Kent which took him past 50 and Ian Harvey was the only wicket taker for Yorkshire as he took 2 of the 4 to fall.
From Briggs View
It was an innings of frustration for Shaun Briggs as he managed to create chances but his fielders could not capitalise on the chances made by their bowler. Briggs, like the rest of the bowlers was very economical, but again like most of the Yorkshire bowlers, finished wicketless, but it was a very strong team effort from Yorkshire to restrict Kent to a low score and to give them a great chance of winning the game.
Shaun Briggs 9-0-36-0
1st Over: In an over which saw Rob Key play and miss, 3 runs are picked up
2nd Over: Rob Key again plays risky against Briggs, this time mistiming one which falls short of Jaques
3rd Over: Briggs struggles with his lines as he bowls 3 wides in the over
4th Over: 4 singles picked up from the over
5th Over: Only a single taken from the over
6th Over: 2 runs picked up from the over as Briggs keeps it tight
7th Over: Fulton smashes Briggs away for 4
8th Over: Briggs bowls a no ball
9th Over: An eventful final over from Briggs see's Fulton dropped by Kruis in the covers, then a no ball is bowled next up and to add insult to injury, Fulton smashes the extra ball away for 4
Briggs comes in to the attack with Kent in a good position
But it was to be 9 overs of frustration for the all rounder
