Stats For Shaun Briggs After Game Eleven
statsafter114dj.jpg

So with the two knocks in this game, Briggs reaches that 1000 run mark for the season. With only one wicket required for 50 wickets, Briggs looks set to become one of a few players who has scored 1000 runs and taken 50 wickets in their first county season, and to do it with games left is some achievement. Briggs still seems to have some problems though after re-descovering his LBW weakness of playing across the line in this game and his no ball problem while bowling is also something that remains in his game, but despite these he still excells and performs at 100% in virtually every game.

yes somerset! (sorry briggsey), but this is great work mate, looking forward to the next update

Somerset vs Yorkshire
Taunton

In a rematch from the recent county championship game, Yorkshire take on Somerset at Taunton. Only a few days after tasting defeat on this very ground, Yorkshire will be looking to redeem themselves with a victory over Somerset in the shorter version of the game. Graeme Smith's men will be on a high though knowing that they have one over on Yorkshire already this week so it will be an interesting contest. Conditions were checked before the toss.

So conditions look good and with a different pitch being used to the one which was used for the county game in the week, it may offer more or less for the bowlers, but time will tell. The toss was taken soon after as Smith met Craig White in the middle.

So, Yorkshire won the toss and have elected to bat first. Probably a wise decision from Craig White as no body knows what the pitch will offer for the bowlers first up. The teams were soon announced after the toss and the players made their way out onto the pitch.

Bit of movement in the air for the bowlers first up even if there isnt anything in the pitch, i would have bowled first here but only because of preference, keep up the good work briggesy!

Yorkshire Suffer As Somerset Gain Upperhand
At Taunton

It was another bad day at Taunton for Yorkshire as they were bowled out for only 209 by Somerset with over 8 overs left in the innings. Yorkshire's batsmen were out of sorts as wickets kept falling at regular intervals, despite many players getting starts, none of the them could go on to make a decent score except for the only bright spark from the innings Shaun Briggs who seems to be benefitting from opening the innings as he top scored with a quick fire 67. Somerset's bowlers were nothing special and some of them were quite expensive but they still got the wickets with Parsons getting 3, and 2 each for Caddick, Blackwell and Johnson. With only 210 to chase on what looks a good batting pitch, Somerset could inflict their second defeat on Yorkshire in a matter of days.

From Briggs View
Briggs was yet again the only bright spark from a dull Yorkshire innings as he hammered 67 from 71 deliveries from opening. A bright innings from Briggs saw him bring up his 50 from exactly the same amount of deliveries with a huge boundary over mid off and in all his innings included 7 fours and 2 huge sixes, one of which went in to the top tier of the main stand. Its going to take a big bowling effort from Briggs and his fellow bowlers to give Yorkshire a chance of winning this game, and with top run scorer in the Totesport League to come in Marcus Trescothick, Yorkshire are really up against it.

Briggs gets ready to face his first ball with the field quite spread already!

Just a glance of some of the fine boundaries Briggs struck in his innings

And despite scoring a fine 50, Briggs hauled out to Blackwell bringing a fine innings to an end
