Trio Shame Sorry Lancashire
At Old Trafford

Yorkshire completed victory on day 3 against Lancashire by the huge margin of an innings and 152 runs. Early wickets were yet again Lancashire's downfall, despite a very bright but short innings from Brad Hodge who took a likeing to Deon Kruis by hammering him to all parts in the early stages. Despite this, it would be Kruis along with his bowling partners Matthew Hoggard and Shaun Briggs who would end any hopes of a Lancashire fightback as they each took 3 wickets in a shameful defeat for Lancashire in their own back yard.

The menacing trio: Kruis, Hoggard and Briggs

From Briggs View
Briggs enjoyed great success on a pitch which had been hugely affected by the rain from previous days. The in-different bounce aided Briggs in his search for wickets, especially in the Lancashire second innings as Briggs showed no sign of tiredness after bowling for nearly the whole day with his fellow Yorkshire bowlers as they bowled Lancashire out twice. After a great first spell in the second innings in which Briggs conceded only 9 runs from his 6 overs, he came back in his second spell with a bang despite being hit for some runs he claimed a wicket in his first comeback over and then came back to pick up the final wicket of the game to give Yorkshire victory.

Shaun Briggs 12.5-4-21-3
1st Spell
1st Over: Single comes from Briggs first over
2nd Over: Briggs keeps it tight again as another single is picked up from the over
3rd Over: The Lancashire batsmen start to adpot to Briggs' bowling and pick up 3 from the over
4th Over: Normal service resumed for Briggs as he concedes another single from the over
5th Over: WICKET! Briggs is finally rewarded for his consistency as he gets Stuart Law for the second time in the match as yet another one keeps low on Law who this time round gets bowled
6th Over: Briggs finishes his spell with a maiden
2nd Spell
7th Over: WICKET! An entertaining over see's Mal Loye welcome Briggs back in to the attack with two consecutive boundaries but one aggressive shot too many see's him hit out to Deon Kruis at deep square leg
8th Over: Hegg survives by a matter of inches as the ball skims past his stumps, much to his relief
9th Over: Briggs bowls his second maiden in what is turning out to be a very good spell
10th Over: Two maidens in a row from Briggs as Lancashire try to dig deep and bat for as long as possible
11th Over: Another maiden from Briggs
12th Over: WICKET! Briggs ends the game as Sajid Mahmood edges to slip where Kruis takes a brilliant diving catch, it could have ended earlier however as James Anderson edged past a diving second slip

But he would not be so lucky next time around as Yorkshire were delighted to see the back of him

Stats For Shaun Briggs After Game Twelve
statsafter127zj.jpg

Briggs form continues, with only 4 games left in the county season he has passed 1000 runs and taken over 50 wickets, 4 of which came in this game as his bowling continues to get better. A low score with the bat can be over looked on this pitch considering how some of the best batsmen in the league failed to make an impact but none the less a strong end to the season is what Briggs and Yorkshire will be looking for.

your averaging about 4 1/2 per match which is pretty good

i enjoy coming here and seeing that you ahve made a new post great to keep track of :)

I mean..this thread, is alright, but it could be better if he played for a good team, like....

Warwickshire vs Yorkshire
Edgbaston

Yorkshire travel to county champions Warwickshire as they look to seal promotion to the first division of the Totesport League. With both teams coming into the game on the backs of big wins in the county championship, they should both be high on confidence and a competitive game should be in store. Nick Knight and Craig White checked the conditions of the pitch before the coin toss was due.

So a bit of grass is on the pitch which both batsmen and bowlers will have to deal with. A difficult toss to win but with a decent total on the board first up, it wont be easy to chase later on. The toss was soon taken as the match referee made his way to the middle.

Nick Knight won the toss and elected to bat first, probably the wise decision but only time will tell. The captains shook hands, the teams were announced, and it was not long before they were making their way out to the middle.

Argghh the dreaded overs bug has struck on Briggs!! So please ignore the 2 wickets and 12 overs he bowled in the innings in the next update!!

Bowlers Do It Again As Warwickshire Toil
At Edgbaston

It was yet again another innings dominated by the Yorkshire bowlers as they made Nick Knight pay for his decision at the toss by bowling Warwickshire out for only 168, leaving Yorkshire with a pretty low but challenging score to chase in their 45 innings. Ian Harvey and Deon Kruis were the pick of the bowlers picking up 5 between them as Warwickshire never capitalised on the positive start given to them by the openers. Keith Piper top scored down the innings with a quick fire 38 from 22 deliveries but 168 does not look anywhere near enough on this pitch which looks a decent enough one to bat on.

From Briggs View
A tidy 9 overs from Briggs without reward is how he will look back on this performance. His 9 overs cost him only 21 runs as the Warwickshire batsmen never really got after him and instead tried to see him out of the attack by just fending him off and picking up the odd single now and again. He caused trouble for Ian Bell early on in his spell but was to be frustrated by an LBW decision which went against him which looked quite plum. Overall though a pleasing display from the all-rounder who will now look to guide his team to the 169 they have been set for victory and surely promotion.

Shaun Briggs 9-0-21-0
1st Over: Bell is beaten by a beauty first up from Briggs as some last minute movement beats the outside edge
2nd Over: Single picked up from the over
3rd Over: Powell hits Briggs away through the covers for a fine 4 runs
4th Over: Penny gets in on the act this time hitting Briggs for 4
5th Over: Briggs bowls his first no ball
6th Over: Penny plays and misses at a good one from Briggs
7th Over: Penny picks up another boundary
8th Over: A single picked up from the over
9th Over: Bell looks to just see off Briggs' final over and does so with only a single coming from the over
