Vaughan and Jaques Guide Yorkshire Home
At Edgbaston

A solid partnership between Michael Vaughan and Phil Jaques led Yorkshire home in their chase as they beat Warwickshire by 5 wickets. The 135 run partnership was just what Yorkshire needed after the early loss of Briggs in only the second over, and it was that partnership which would build the foundations for a comfortable victory in the end. Despite going into the 43rd over, the victory never looked in doubt, despite some very tight bowling from the Warwickshire bowlers, but in his quest for wickets, Nick Knight bowled out all of his frontline bowlers and was left with part timers Ian Bell and Trevor Penny to bowl at the death and it would be that, that let him down. In the end, Vaughan top scored for Yorkshire with a fine 70, while suprisingly, Trevor Penny picked up 2 wickets for Warwickshire.

From Briggs View
After despatching his very first ball from Heath Streak away to the boundary, it looked like it was going to be another commanding performance at the top of the innings from Briggs. It was not to be though as an amazing diving catch from Streak standing at a very close point saw Briggs depart for only 4. Briggs will be looking for some form with the bat in the next game against Durham as his last couple of scores havent been as good as he may have hoped.

Stats For Shaun Briggs After Game Thirteen

A dissapointing game for Briggs, no wickets and only 4 runs, but his bowling remains economical which is a plus point, and some strong performances in his final totesport league games will no doubt make up for his early season blip

I see your alternate dimension Briggs popped in for a visit :)

Also, their is a bug in the game...your wicket tally has upped by two...:p

Well done on the win Briggsey
Shame about not getting more runs and wickets but that LBW looked pretty much out to me

Yorkshire vs Durham
Headingly

Fresh of their roses success last week, Yorkshire welcome Durham to the more familiar settings of Headingly for this latest county championship game. Craig White's men will be on a high after completing the double over their roses rivals and with Durham struggling for form at the moment, they will be hoping for some big games from their leading players Steve Harmison and Mike Hussey. The captains made their way out to the middle before the toss to check out the conditions.

conditions4lu.jpg

Conditions look to be favouring the bowlers with overcast skies and a green pitch which could mean the odd ball stays low later on. The match referee made his way to the middle and the coin toss was due.

So, John Lewis wins the toss and puts Yorkshire in, probably a wise decision considering the conditions and not forgetting that Durham have a certain Steve Harmison in their attack. The teams were soon released and out came the players on to the pitch.

'Grievous Bodily' Harmison Rips Through Yorkshire
At Headingly

Yorkshire were left tumbling at the sight of Steve Harmison as he finished with figures of 5 for 84 as Yorkshire were bowled out for 274 on the first day of this game. Harmison caused problems for the batsmen throughout with his bounce and pace, McGrath and Simon Guy especially will be left with bruises and marks to remind them of their encounter with the tall Durham bowler. It would have been worse for Yorkshire if not for a fine partnership in the middle of the innings between Briggs and Harvey who put on 99, the majority of which were scored by Harvey who seemed to be in a rush, scoring his 65 from only 57 deliveries. But Durham will feel they have a chance of getting on top in this game now thanks to a certain 6ft 5ins quickie from Durham.

From Briggs View
It was the work of Shaun Briggs and Ian Harvey that led Yorkshire to a somewhat respectable score at the end of their innings. Some powerful strokeplay from Harvey was levelled out with the calmness and patience of Briggs who played some fine strokes in his 94 ball innings which brought him 71 runs. Having reached 50 with a huge 6 straight down the ground, Briggs would have been expecting to go on and score big, but when Harvey was dismissed, Briggs went soon after, beaten by a beauty by Harmison who cleaned up the young Yorkshireman, who left the pitch dissapointed but will have to hold his head high to keep Yorkshire in the game.
