Story A Season In The Life Of.....................Me...!![C2005]

Sources close to the Yorkshire team have said that despite the rumours, Shaun Briggs has had no offers of going to play in Australia at the end of the season. They also said that the rumours linking Yorkshire with a move for explosive Pakistani international Shahid Afridi to join them next year were at the moment 'unconfirmed'

Thats because Briggs himself doesnt even know yet until the squad is announced on the 16th of September :p

But that doesn't stop him from enquiring about the fact that England A is missing...he must know something...:p

You will have to wait for that squad im afraid. The ECB dont allow anything to slip into the media that easily :p

Read the previous story on the page about the tour, or look above the date is there, but its only the date in terms of the story. It will probably be some time next week, depends on how much time i get to spend on the story.

Shaun Briggs will miss Yorkshire's next game in the Totesport League after being fined and suspended for his reactions in the previous Totesport game against Derbyshire. An official statement from the county stated: "Shaun has been repremanded by the ECB for his gesture towards Scott Stubbings after dismissing him. He has been fined and we have been told he will not be available for selection in the next game. He has also been reminded about his future conduct in games, as the ECB believe that kind of behaviour is not suitable in the game."

This gesture made by Briggs towards Stubbings landed him in hot water

The news comes as a blow to Briggs who was looking to impress the selectors for the England A squad in the coming weeks with the squad for the tour of the West Indies due to be announced. Briggs will now miss the game with Kent at Cantebury.

Thats a bad break for briggs

If it were the next finger, then I wouldn't have minded much about the ban. But a ban for showing the index finger! - That is harsh.:p

This is a lot of effort that you have put into this thread. Dare I say it is one of the best story threads in PC history. (don't let that go to your head now :p )

Kent vs Yorkshire
Canterbury

Yorkshire make the trip down to Canterbury to take on Kent in what is a must win game for the Spitfires. They will be boosted by the news that Yorkshire will be without their young all-rounder Shaun Briggs who has been suspended for this game and it couldnt have come at a better time for Kent, who need to win this game to keep their promotion hopes alive. It will also be interesting to see who Yorkshire pick in place of Briggs and whether he will have as much influence as the youngster has this season. The two captains met in the middle to look at the conditions before the game.

Both captains agreed that there will be some turn on this pitch, with it being slightly old and dusty and crack may become visible in the latter stages of the game, a win the toss and bat first pitch. The match referee met the captains in the middle for the coin toss shortly afterwards.

So, Kent have won the toss and as expected, elected to bat. A good toss to win and Yorkshire are going to have to bowl and bat very well to take anything away from this game, especially without Briggs in their ranks. The two teams were announced soon after and we got to see who would replace Briggs in the Yorkshire team as the players made their way onto the pitch to begin proceedings.
