Lancashire Fightback After Harvey Blitz
At Headingly

Lancashire fought back brilliantly at Headingly to restrict Yorkshire to a lowly 132 for 9 from their 20 overs. After a brilliant opening stand from Harvey and Briggs worth 92, Yorkshire lost 8 wickets for only 40 runs as Andrew Flintoff took 3 for 11 and the ever reliable Murali took 2 for 26 as Lancashire look to have put themselves in a strong position for victory with the batting lineup they have. The only contributors to the Yorkshire score were Harvey and Briggs, with Harvey showing his typical Twenty20 form, hammering 60 from only 36 deliveries, while Briggs chipped in with 41, but Lancashire now look to have a good chance of winning this one and to stop them Yorkshire are going to have to bowl very well.

From Briggs View
It was a slow start from Briggs who stood back and watched as Harvey ripped apart the Lancashire bowlers in the opening stages, but once he got into his flow, Briggs took apart a couple of the bowlers himself. Murali of all people was than man Briggs chose to take on and he did so in fine fashion, hitting him away for two slog sweeps in an over. Briggs was unlucky to get dismissed, Hogg banging in a short one and Briggs played on falling 9 short of his first 50 in his first Twenty20 game, but now his attentions will turn to bowling and helping Yorkshire win the game.

Dawson Shatters Lancashire
At Headingly

Richard Dawson finished with figures of 4 for 13 as Yorkshire beat Lancashire by 28 runs in a tense game at Headingly. After a bright start by the opening pair, two wickets in two balls began the Lancashire collapse as Ian Harvey was the star man early on. Shaun Briggs came into the attack later and produced some expensive but wicket taking deliveries as he finished with 3 wickets but went at just under 10 an over as the Lancashire batsmen looked for runs at the end. Andrew Flintoff provided some awesome shots when he came in to bat, and he finished top scorer with a quickfire 24, and at the end of the innings a partnership of 18 between Cork and Anderson was still not good enough to save Lancashire from their third Roses defeat of the season.

From Briggs View
Although expensive, Briggs can be pleased with his bowling effort to say it was his first in Twenty20 cricket. He bowled some fine deliveries but was unfortunate that the Lancashire batsmen were in attacking mode and found many of his deliveries went over the rope, especially in his final over which saw three 6's being hit. Despite that though, Briggs still took 3 wickets, two beauties to get rid of Sutcliffe and Murali and the other thanks to a fantastic diving catch from Anthony McGrath.

Shaun Briggs 4-0-39-3

1st Over: A misfield on the boundary costs Briggs and Yorkshire 4 runs. 5 in total from the over
2nd Over: Flintoff goes into attack mode hammering Briggs away first for a 6 and then a brilliant stroke for 4. 12 in all come from the over
3rd Over: WICKET! Sutcliffe is cleaned up by Briggs as he plays all around one. 3 runs from the over
4th Over: WICKETS! Successes for Briggs in his final over but they come at a cost. First Briggs gets the wicket of Warren Hegg who after hitting a 6 goes for a big one but is caught brilliantly by McGrath, then next delivery Murali is bowled by a brilliant yorker which he plays all around. The next 3 balls though would be disastrous as they cost Briggs 13 runs, including two huge sixes from Cork that send the ball into Headingly Rugby Ground!

Man Of The Match

A good start to Twenty20 for Briggs as he picks up 3 wickets and 41 runs from his first game in the competition. The next game, a visit to Nottinghamshire will provide Yorkshire with a tougher game and should be a fascinating contest that will hopefully bring out the best in Briggs.

Good start to the 20/20 career. Bowlings a tad expensive. But all that counts is the 3 wickets.

Nottinghamshire vs Yorkshire
Trent Bridge

Yorkshire make the trip down to Trent Bridge to take on Nottinghamshire in the 2nd round of Twenty20 games in the North zone. Both teams got off to good starts in their respective opening games by winning them and so will be hoping to carry on the momentum today with a victory, and with both teams looking strong, this is going to be a cracking contest. Craig White and Stephen Fleming met down in the middle to check out the conditions before the toss.

A pretty good looking pitch has been served up here by the groundsman, looking very good for batting so you would think whoever wins the toss would want to have first use of this pitch and bat, but that would remain to be seen. The match referee joined the captains out in the middle for the coin toss.

So, Stephen Fleming has won the toss and put Yorkshire in to bat. Strange decision by Fleming, but he may know something we dont about this pitch, and with him being one of the best captains in the world, its hard to question his decisions. Would it pay off? Only time would tell as the teams were announced and the players made their way onto the field to begin the game.

Fleming does not have the side it could have and his desion to bowl first in twenty 20 is not smart and this is also a good batting wicket,Briggsey you have this one mate

Harvey And White Hammer Sorry Notts
At Trent Bridge

Ian Harvey and Craig White took the Nottinghamshire bowlers apart as they posted 187 for 5 from their 20 overs today at Trent Bridge. Harvey got Yorkshire off to a blazing start as he and opening partner Shaun Briggs posted 101 for the first wicket, 78 of those going to Harvey who for the second game in succession enjoyed blazing away at the top of the innings. Craig White came in at number 7 and hammered 38 from 14 balls towards the end, including 3 consecutive sixes in the final over which was bowled by Bicknell whose spin was not enough to faze Yorkshire captain White as he blazed away. The only wicket takers for Notts were Sidebottom and Swann who both bowled brilliantly in the middle of the innings to stop the Yorkshire batsmen causing more havoc, but Fleming and his team should not relish batting on this pitch which looks brilliant for batting.

From Briggs View
It was another solid performance from Briggs which saw him score a nice 28 to go with Harvey's huge hitting at the top of the innings. Briggs scored nicely as for the second game in a row he watched from the other end as Harvey took the Notts bowlers to pieces and hit them to all parts, while Briggs placed his shots nicely and at times he himself hammered the ball over the ropes for some huge boundaries. But, once Harvey get out, Briggs played sensibly and together with Jaques and Vaughan re-established the Yorkshire innings after some wickets but Briggs couldnt help himself towards the end and went for a slog sweep against Swann which only found its way to Mark Ealham who took a fine catch on the boundary.
