Harvey Guides Yorkshire Home
At Trent Bridge
Ian Harvey remined us all once more why he is still a fantastic all-rounder by adding to his blistering 78 with the bat by taking 5 for 30 from his 4 overs to guide Yorkshire home by 30 runs. At one stage it looked as if Nottinghamshire were not even bothered with chasing the total, going along as 5 an over after 7 overs, but once Bicknell got into the swing he took the Yorkshire bowlers to piecesl; Briggs and Dawson feeling his wrath by being hit for 25 and 31 respectively from one of their overs by him. But, Ian Harvey completely swung the game when he took the first ever hat-trick to be taken by a Yorkshire player in the Twenty20, dismissing Ealham, Read and Swann; all dangerous players but all falling for ducks and within a ball of each other. Richard Dawson made up for being hit for 31 from a single over by dismissing Greg Smith in the final over to seal victory for Yorkshire.
From Briggs View
Another expensive bowling performance from Briggs saw him go for 43 from his 4 overs with just the one wicket to his name. Briggs was bowling well before his final over, going at just a run a ball, but once Bicknell decided to throw his bat, he threw it in a big way, hitting Briggs for three 4's and two 6's in his final over to completely wreck his figures. Earlier in the innings though Briggs did have some success, claiming the wicket of captain Stephen Fleming who could have easily turned this game but he went for a big shot too early into his innings and was comprehensively bowled by Briggs.
Shaun Briggs 4-0-43-1
1st Over: Bicknell hits Briggs away for 4, the only runs taken from a good opening over.
2nd Over: WICKET! Fleming thinks he's got the measure over Briggs, hammering him away for 6, but Briggs replies in the only way he knows how, by claiming his wicket very next ball
3rd Over: Briggs is let down by his team mates as two misfields cost him two boundaries and the start of the 'slog fest' begins.
4th Over: Bicknell goes crazy in Briggs final over which goes 0 4 6 6 4 4. Enough said.
Briggs comes into the attack after a good but wicketless start for Yorkshire
The wicket of Fleming would be the only joy in this bowling performance from Briggs
