Byas Confirms Briggs Lay Off

byas_270.jpg

Yorkshire coach David Byas confirmed today that the all round pair of Shaun Briggs and Ian Harvey will be rested from the final two Totesport League games of the season, but still may feature in the final County Games in the coming weeks. The two, who have been ever presents for the team this year, will miss the games with Durham and Derbyshire, but as Byas confirmed at a news conference today, they still may have some part to play in the county games.

"Shaun and Ian have been superb for us this year, and we thought the timing was right for them to have a rest for the one dayers. They did brilliantly for us in the Twenty20, but the possibilities of them playing further part in the county games is not out of the question. I'll sit down with them next week and discuss that."

The news comes with Yorkshire having already guaranteed promotion in both formats of the game, and with the England A squad due to be announced in the coming week, the selectors will be hoping that Briggs isnt carrying any knocks which could affect his availability if he is selected.

Sounds like a Briggsy will be going on the England A tour :D

Yes but my story has been going on for 53 pages and leading up to it!

Who said anything about a race anyway?

Monty Panesar and Sajid Mahmood are both from England, Panesar has played for England Under 19's and Sajid Mahmood has played both for the England A team and England ODI side, so I should think they are both English! :p

Thats a pretty good side. Good to see Ed Joyce, James Hilderith and Jamie Dalrymple making it up to the squad. And I believe congratulations are in the order for Shaun Briggs for a superb capping of his debut year.

Good story Briggsey! Keep the good work up!
