Alleged match fixing in the IPL

Wow, umpires fixing games as well?? Always had a feeling Rauf was a little dodgy though. How can the fans still turn up to the games and believe what they are seeing?? How can anyone take this competition seriously is beyond me, they have a guy running the whole show who could be the most corrupt of them all in Srinivasan.

Saw this pic on twitter lol

Well maybe they have ulterior motives other than winning:

Nah but seriously it may be a conflict of interest, personally I dont see an issue with Srinivasan owning CSK and being the BCCI head at the same time. Neither believing the CSK wins were scripted, they have had some incredible teams over the years.

How could that possibly not be an issue? Its just a coincidence the team he owns is the best year in year out?

Not that I support CSK by any means (a hater actually), but one must admit that they have the best performing side in every IPL. Best on paper is definitely MI or RCB, but CSK performs. They managed to retain their key players after IPL 2010 so the team setup hasn't changed in past 6 years. Moreover they have the best captain one could ask for in present day cricket. That pretty much sums it up why they have been the best team almost every year.

CSK has had some wonderful players over the years, some of the best ever in T20, captained by one of the best leaders of the era, so its not surprising theyve performed exceptionally well every year!

It could go either way really. The money the IPL generates for the BCCI means that it can't let it become sunk in controversy as it will lose it's appeal with the public.

however, they could choose to tackle that by either being extremely vigilant, doing a lot to stamp out match-fixing or they could that by being extremely lax hoping not very much of it gets discovered.

Am I the only one who finds all this funny? It seems like everyone and their momma is in some way, shape or form involved with a bookie, whether it be hanging out at the temple with a bookie or watching their husband play cricket with a bookie, that's on the individual. :rolleyes

There are just 2 things I wanted to talk about:

1. The IPL should not end, as some are calling for. Although I'm not a personal fan of the IPL I have witnessed it's power first hand and seen the number of casual fans who seem to be interested in the massive, multi-million dollar spectacle. A lot of young folk and women are attracted to this and that can only be beneficial...if handled correctly.

2. The whole Asad Rauf situation. He was/is one of he world's leading umpires and I think the ICC have treated him harshly, making it out as if he is already guilty, although no statement has been made with regards to the nature of the police investigation in India. It's not the first time the ICC had treated some of it's employees like trash.

The moral of the story: With great power comes great responsibility.
