Ashes 2015 - Australia tour of England July/September 2015

I remember saying at the start of the series that Nathan Lyon would be the leading wicket-taker, because the batsmen would get over-excited to be facing him after Starc, Johnson and Hazlewood.

At the minute he is.

I wish I was more prepared to bet on these things.

I was re-reading some of KP's autobiography chapters yesterday. Not because I like him and want him back, but because he spoke quite a lot about Mitchell Johnson and facing him.

He says that the dressing room was pretty much scared of Johnson, but he would go and get Mushy and ask him to sling down some short stuff from ten yards. He would do this for hours. In that series, KP and Cook looked about the only people who could deal with short and quick bowling.

Are they practising like KP always used to? Who knows.

It's odd if they aren't. He is so dangerous when he's got the fire in his belly.

Nathan Lyon bowling one of the best spells of Off Spin I've seen in a long time.

How lucky is the English team to have Moeen Ali in their ranks ..

A near 150 run lead on what appears to be a low scoring pitch, England should have this one in the bag. Unless Australia have a stand like they had in the second test between Smith and Rogers, there is only one winner.

Rogers did review that at the last minute, so good that Australia didn't waste a review.

Finn went for the "bowling utter crap to take wickets" strategy, I see

It does seem to work!

we cannot always relay on

D Warner
C Rogers
S Smith!

MIDDLE order has failed us on way too many occasions!

M Clarke
A VOGES! (What happened to him?)
M Marsh!

Woosh. Was rather looking forwards to watching this unfold on Sunday afternoon.

I might have to leave work early to get home for it this evening!

bring back watto
We have already got a DAD's Army

We are good in ODI'S AND T20'I but way too shit in test outside Aus or maybe we just don't learn from our mistakes. Look at Warner he is tweaking love he has learned a lot from these things.....

I remember India touring England two years ago, and folding in the fourth test. That was painful to watch, but this is even worse. Australia were on such a high after the second test, this is something no one not even Eng would have expected.

Rarely if ever a test finishes in two days, still time for England to get those 4 wickets.

I'm very worried about the Anderson injury. Especially as the next test is at Trent Bridge. A ground where swing bowlers normally win it for you. Can't see him being fit for that, even if it's a small muscle strain.

If he's not fit, I'm not sure whether Mark Wood is the type of bowler we'd need to replace him. England would need one genuine pitch up swing bowler in the team. Woakes would be a good choice of he's fit enough.

Do people like Jack Brooks, James Harris or Lewis Gregory swing it consistently? Haven't seen them much.

Woakes is fit enough, he has played Championship games.
I like Harris, Brooks is a bit like Broad from the little ive seen. Gregory is nowhere near selection.
