Ashes 2015 - Australia tour of England July/September 2015

The commentary on sky seems to indicate if its a niggle as its intercostal will be out for at least 2 weeks

They wont go for 6 bowlers Woakes,Broad, wood, Stokes, Ali, Finn thats too many options
But woakes at 9 is ridiculous
Lyth might get dropped, and Ali might open but that would mean Taylor would come in[DOUBLEPOST=1438278625][/DOUBLEPOST]

SMarsh for Voges, Clarke under pressure, does Watto come under consideration again as MMarsh hasnt been great

Mitch Marsh had a good 2nd test. No reason to go back to Watson.

I didnt think he was the same bowler he once was, he wasnt bowling with this rythm in the CC when i saw him, and he is such a confidence bowler, i was worried warner would get after him and he would blow up like trent bridge 2013, but im pleased for him

The only bowlers in England i like beside Anderson and Broad!!! are Finn and Plunkett they are good , wont lie i am not impressed by
Chris Woakes / Mark Wood / Chris Jordan

I think what we're seeing in this series is a battle to see which is the less bad Test team - the quality of the cricket on show in these three Tests reflects their rankings at numbers five and six by my system.

That might sound a tad harsh, but really - how many players have looked like they're genuinely in Test-quality form from either side? You could make changes to both sides.

Stumps

Nevill continues the FIGHT!

We go again Tomorrow !!!!! :) :)

Is Woakes so improved then? Not seen him in all honesty but I see we have fans here

Woakes was harshly bracketed with Kerrigan in oval 2013.
Then stokes took his supposed role as all rounder,
he did well last summer, has put on pace since his debut.
And is a much much better red ball bowler than white, and he is still judged on his odi performances from years ago. He was actually arguably our best bowler in the wx and the odis leading up to it.

Having watched cc div 1, he is the best bowler by far imo, add in the fact he can bat, he should be a mainstay of the test team at 8, with the new ball

Yes now you mention it he bowled well in WC considering the general carnage

He has to be used when the ball swings in odis, but he also gets nip off the pitch in red ball cricket, if Jimmy is out and he plays he has to get the new ball.

He would have been man in possession in the Windies of he was fit.

And a few years ago he was the top bowler for the lions in Sri Lanka as well as batting, he is a good solid cricketer, and will be better for his first taste of international cricket[DOUBLEPOST=1438283973][/DOUBLEPOST]

So they either need 300+ wickets, or be 6'4" plus or you don't like them

For me, Moeen Ali has been the underrated hero for England. He batted brilliantly in the first test in the first inning to shift the momentum towards England and also today when England were in a bit of trouble with two quick wickets, he took on Johnson and again made a crucial contribution. His bowling might not be still at that level but he is very positive when he comes out to bat. Short ball problem is still there but he has definitely improved compared to the last year dismissals.

I would quite like to see him get a go, but I don't know where Woakes fits into the side. I suppose this is an option, and it means that your fourth seamer is no longer someone with a Test bowling average of 48. Question marks still hang over Lyth, Bell and Buttler though.

Alastair Cook :c:
Adam Lyth
Ian Bell
Joe Root
Ben Stokes
Moeen Ali :bwl:
Jos Buttler :wk:
Chris Woakes :bwl:
Stuart Broad :bwl:
Mark Wood :bwl:
Steven Finn :bwl:

I wouldn't get rid of Bairstow quite yet: he didn't do a lot in the first innings but he was dismissed of a fantastic ball which puts him above almost everyone else in this game who got out doing something incredibly stupid.

I think Woakes will come in when Anderson gives it up. He's a very good swing bowler.

That was a great day yesterday.

Anderson officially out if the next test. Don't think I've ever been so gutted about an England player being injured. He really is our best player.

Because I've been following England since I was 10, 1995, I am still really nervous despite having the Aussies effectively 23-7. Its going to be a nail biting, nervous morning!

He is also out of the fifth test according to some sources
